Genetic testing will improve the quality of lW but there are risks which people must consider

Genetic tests are increasingly used in our liveland they opened a deep view of the
biochemical happening which is the basis for health and illness. Through genetic tests
doctors could identiff rare future diseases more easily. Hereditary diseases could be
recognized before outbreak and treated better. A test brings also various side effects
with them which must be considered. For example employers could require a genetic
test of future employees, private insurances could test their clients. To handle these side
effects the government has to find solutions to protect human's personalities.
The medicine, thou has a clear goal,it wants to find out the reason of illness with each
patient, in orde* to be able to offer effective therapy and to prevent poor health.
Clinically very similar diseases can have different causes, which can be examined with
a genetic test directly. Many sicknesses for instance don't appear in young age, the
outbreak is in adult age and therefore an examination is advisable in order to take
actions before developing any serious sicknesses. A genetic test with babies would be
quite meaningful. Child physicians try today in projects to determine metabolic diseases
by normal blood investigations. But that is rather an excessive procedure because it
takes a long. time and also the entire blood picture has to be examined after
irregularities. flow important it is to be able to react promptly to diseases the example
of the eightedh months old Daniel shows. Without a blood investigation after his birth
he probably wouldn't be alive anymore. At first everything seemed normal. Like nearly
from all babies a small blood test was taken after two days. Parents are afraid of this
procedure, but for Daniel it was essential. He was one of the first babies, who
participated in the so called newbom screening in Germany. A analyzer measures the
concentration of certain fat metabolic products in the blood. It can register even the
smallest deviations from the normal value. Daniels results showed that he has a rare
metabolic illness, MCAD (Medium chain acyl coenzyme dehydrogenase), a disorder in
which the body is unable to breakdown fatsito.produce energy. Thanks tg the genetic
test Daniels parents knew in time and learne'd how to live with it. Even qhorf'tests like
this have a positive effect in a persons future health, genetic tests in geneial must be
well considered before they are part of our daily live. If employers or insurance
companies start checking on their future employees or clients who might are genetically
vulnerable, than people would be excluded from occupation, insurance companies could
ask for high premiums from their clients which would lead to discrimination in our
society. So far there is no European law, which prevents genetic discrimination for
employees, whereby individual countries issued their own laws. Fourteen countries,
including Great Britain and Germany, did not sign so far the human right convention of
the European Council which forbids discrimination of humans due to its genetic
inheritance. Therefore the Government has to provide Laws with regulations of genetic
tests which must prevent discrimination and protect our personal information from
industries. Genetic tests should have the aim to support each human from hereditary
diseases and help developing medication for each individual person since every human
being reacts differently on them as a result the quality of live will increase.
