LASALLIAN EDUCATION IN A POLSCI WAY -Rey Ponteras, ABPO4

For the past four years, Political Science never failed to amaze me and had greatly influenced the life that I have right now. Everything Ive learned in this discipline since the day I became a Lasallian PolSci student molded me as a better person and have brought my principles into a great degree of importance. It has opened a lot of opportunities to me, and so, I am very thankful for all the lifechanging experiences that Political Science had made in my life. All the lifes lessons that this discipline inculcated me will never be forgotten, and never shall I mislay all those values, principles, and memories that I and my PolSci family have shared. But for now, you got to read and listen to my stories on how Political Science transcends into many dimensions. For me, Political Science is Teacherhood. One important thing Ive learned in studying Political Science is the art of teaching. Political Science taught me that knowledge is one of the greatest blessings in life that a person could ever have, and so you share. And like teachers, when you teach, you dont just teach by words alone, but also with actions that develop harmoniously body and soul. Political Science is Mathematics. You dont subtract people, you add them. The values you have and the respect you earn is an elucidation of a very well-lived life. As said, man must live in a virtuous life. One must work on his imperfections, and must eliminate things that are unnecessary in his life. Like in Math, why complicate the formula if you know how to simplify! Ones existence should not be anchored on the idea of pleasures and materialism, but rather embrace the idea of simplicity and purity. Thats what Political Science is all about. Political Science is Engineering. We dont build structures and machines. We build People. The engineering work of a Political Scientist is to know how to bridge the gap among people. You see, engineers apply the sciences of physics, and that solving for equilibrium really does matter. But as to Political Science, we know equality is the answer for that. Political Science is related to every mans aspect, and that includes his social and rational conditions. We are social animals, and whatever we do in our society is the product of any sociological contests. And then we apply rationality, the power of reason. Political Science is a door to carry out the capacities of the human mind. Thus, having a rational mind would yield in to a rational society. But above all, Political

Science, which is always linked to the word Politics, is all about Power. It always reminds us that with great power, comes with great responsibility. And everytime you make use of your power, you use it with goodness as your guiding principle. We dont just simply exist here, we live, and we touch lives and build character. Political science is not just a field of Science. This is my place, my home, my family. And I will never trade this society for any prize that the material world can offer. And so, when ask for a better education, I say La Salle. And when ask what my course is, well, I shout to the world, Hey, I AM POLSCI! And like any other courses, Political Science has its own sphere of magic and specialty. Search for that magic! Study and be amazed of what Political Science can offer in to your life! Viva Pol Sci!
