What Are Themed Living Communities?


Do you and your friends share an interest that you would like to incorporate into your residential experience? If so, then themed living could be perfect for you! Themed Living Communities offer current students who share educational, social or extracurricular interests the opportunity to live together in Nassau Hall. Residents explore their passions with a cohort of like-minded students and enjoy an increased sense of belonging. Eligible students must have a minimum 2.25 cumulative GPA and be in good disciplinary standing with the University. Students approved to reside in Themed Living Communities must complete a minimum of two complex-wide programs each semester and elect a community leader. Students residing in Themed Living Communities are not guaranteed to homestead their space for the following year. Students approved to participate in the Themed Living Community lottery must submit their housing application and housing deposit no later than Friday, March 1, 2013.

Themed Living Community Options


Active Living is an interactive community for those who live physically active life styles. This environment is perfect for students who play intramural, club or collegiate sports. Students with a passion for hiking, snowboarding, water sports and other outdoor activities will find their niche here. Reaching New Heights is a community in which students focus on exploring leadership opportunities on campus and in the community. Students live together and plan and participate in collective service projects while discovering their leadership potential. Visual Arts is for students who are interested in studying painting, photography, graphic design and fine arts, or just have a passion for the visual arts. This Themed Living Community - an extension of the first-year Living Learning Community (LLC) - invites students with an academic or personal interest in the visual arts to join this eclectic community of creative individuals. This community is open to all students. Prior participation in the first-year LLC is not required. Performing Arts is for students who are interested in studying drama, dance, or music, or just have a passion for the performing arts. This Themed Living Community an extension of the first-year Living Learning Community (LLC) invites students with an academic or personal interest in the performing arts to join this eclectic community of creative individuals. This community is open to all students. Prior participation in the first-year LLC is not required. Math, Sciences and Engineering is home to students who have an interest in science, technology, engineering and math. This Themed Living Community is an extension of the first-year Math, Science, and Engineering and Health Sciences Living Learning Communities. This community is open to all students. Prior participation in the first-year LLCs is not required. Gamers Guild is an interactive community for those who enjoy adventure, mystery and quests. This Themed Living Community offers a fun environment for students who enjoy virtual reality or card and board games, or are part of the very popular Hofstra vs. Zombies group.
