Fiberglass Tanks That Simply Never Rust!!

Fiberglass Residential Septic tanks and Distribution Boxes 1000 litre to 6000 litre

Moulded Tank Construction

GFIs Fiberglass Tanks are fabricated using a male mould. The process involves Laying up multiple layers of fibreglass mat and Woven until desired thickness is achieved. A smooth interior non-pours surface will prevent any corrosion break down over the life of the tank. Once the mould is completely covered to the desired thickness, it is left to cure for 5 to 10 hours. Once the resin has cured, the part is removed. Moulded tanks have the capable of burial up to 4ft. Depths of greater than 4ft must first be discussed with GFI Composites Ltd to insure added materials are used for strength due to increased soil pressures. Tanks shall be constructed so not to collapse, corrode or break for a period of 20 year from the time of installation. This can be void due to improper installation/ transportation and is recommended following GFI Installation/transportation procedures. All septic tanks are manufactured in accordance to CAN/CSA- B66-M90 standards

End Caps End Caps are constructed using fibreglass mat, woven and bi-Axle. Multiple layers are applied in order of mat, woven, and mat. The lay-up schedule will consist of 2 layers of mat and 1 Woven and has built in mould ribs for maximum strength.

Moulded Rib Reinforcement

Moulded Rib Reinforcement is incorporated in to the male mould. These multiple ribs add great strength and have proven to work well in H-20 traffic areas such as driveways and parking lots.

Inspection Hatches And Risers All GFI tanks come with an inlet and outlet inspection cover. If required 18 fibreglass riser can be supplied. Sold in 4 foot length this allows riser to extended inches below ground level.

Fittings 4 inlet and outlet PVC pipe and fittings will be used. 5/16 Butyl sealing tape will make water tight seal on all PVC flanges.

Transportation of Tank GFI Composites Tanks can be damaged by the movement of the carrier deck on a tractor trailer. We recommend that wooden planking is placed at both ends of the tank leaving the center of the carrier deck free to flex. Placements of tie-down straps are to be placed at the ends of the tank over the wooden planking only and are not recommended for the center. Place wooden planking as close to moulded Rib Reinforcement as possible where this area will have the most strength. Tanks should never be dropped or rolled off truck. Use only synthetic webbing tie-down straps only to secure tank. Do not use cables or chains! All straps are to be tensioned so not to distort the tank. GFI tank are recommend to be lifted by synthetic web slings. Pad eyes are not recommended due to the fact that they must be secondary bonded to the tank. Contractor should also utilize spreader bars and equal length slings for lifting.

Backfilling Place tank onto prepared bed. Ensure tank is level and properly spaced. Place approximately 6 to 12 inch of primary backfill around bottom of tank, between ribs and under end caps until all voids are filled. Make sure to tamp backfill material down until solid resistance is felt. Place about 12 inch of water in tank or until tank settles firmly onto bedding materials. Continue placing primary backfill around sides of tank and tamp with bar as per standard procedure. Continue to ballast with water ever 12 inch of back fill, until backfilling is complete and surface pad is in place. Select native backfill is allowed around perimeter of the tank. Rock no larger than 1 in diameter is recommended to be used. Compact all select native backfill to 95% relative compaction. Do not allow construction equipment to travel over or near partially buried tank.
