(1) FIFTH Fleet Fast Carrier Force. Aircraft from Task
Force 58 will be available for direct support. Most of
the fighter aircraft from these carriers \7ill be re-
quired for combat air. patrol, but air strike groupsuill
also be provided in accordance with Appendix (I), to this
Annex.
(2) Support Carrier .Porco, This force will operate in _
throE:\ independent Task Groups. One Support.Carrior Group
will be assigned to suppo:rt each main Attack Force. :Gach
Task Group will consist of approximately seven CVEs_ in-
cluding .at least one CVE with vee squadron. Aircraft
uill be provided in accordance with Appendix {I} to this

(3) FEAF will provide air strikes and putrol

( 6) FIRST ltla.rine Aireraft Wing will. provide direct support
to the V Amphibious Corps to which they will be attached
after establishment in the Objective Area, and to other
troops if and will provide Target Combat Air
Patrol day and night, and will be prepared to provide
Target Anti-submarine Patrol.
(7) VOS-VS Aircraft of Fire Support Groups will provide
spotting in accordance .with Appendix (IV) of this Annex,
Air Sea Rescue in accordance .with Appendix (VI) of this
Annex, and Photographic CoUriers in accordaqce with
Appendix (X) of this Amie_x.
(8) All Air Forces will intensify and coordi-.
nate their efforts v1ith air operations in the objective
area after XRAY minus EIGHT.
2. The Air Support Control Grouo v1ill control air support of
amphib_ious operations to capture, .occupy and defend southern KYUSl-HJ
and designated adjacent islands from XRAY minus EIGHT
until control is the Army Air Force Commander ashore.

1. Naval Gunfire Spot
(a) Carrier based Naval Gunfire Spotting missions shall
port 6n and relieve on. station in accqi'dance with the gen-_,
eral schedule for q_VE air support missions except as follows:
(1) First mission on at 0630 unless requested
at a later by Fire Support Group Commanders.

(b) VOS aircraft:, as required to augment Naval Gunfire Spot-
ting missions shall conform to VOF schedule insofar as prac-

applying to all aircraft.

Hydrographic missions shall be scheduled on request by Fire
Sum;ort Group. Commanders. Aircraft made available when

plane shall report on station in each Force .Area at 0900

turn to base. One CVE, VT photo plane shall report on station in
each Attack Force 'rea at 1330 each day and remain on station un-
til 1530 unless directed to return to base,
