Nicole Grayson and Emily Johnson Junior Division Group Website

Thesis In 1972 on June 23rd congress enacted a law to give a women more rights. The president, Richard Nixon signed the law. This law was called Title IX. Title IX was created to give women more rights, prevent harassment of women, and allow women to get a better education. For once women were able to pursue STEM,(science, technology, engineering, and math) which allows women to work in higher paying careers. Also, women had the right to play any sport a man could. Men were not happy that women had this new right because it involved their team, and Title IX was often ignored.

How we chose our topic We chose our topic by researching major changes in history that involved women. We found many topics that involved womens rights, and narrowed the group of topics down into what we were interested. After we had a group of the changes we looked up a little on each topic and concluded which topic was a great turning point. After that we searched information to double check that are topic, Title IX, was relevant to the National History Day project theme.

How we conducted our research We started to conduct our research by writing a list of all the questions we had on Title IX. We searched on reliable sources on the internet and read books to answer these questions. We searched book for information relevant to our topic and wrote down the information we found useful, also we wrote where we got the information. We also decided we wanted to add something a little extra about someone who overcame challenges, and looked for information on the person.

ntation category because we wanted to put together something fun and interactive. First we checked How I selected presentation category and created my project We selected our presentation National History Day website to access the website making software. We checked all the different things that you could do and use on the website. We got paper and drew out how we wanted our website to be composed, then we started to put together our website. After we had composed our website we tweaked on the project and added our final details.

How my project relates to the NHD theme Our projects relates to the National History Day projects because for a very long time women had been treated unequally, could not pursue subjects that led to higher pay careers, and were not allowed to play sports. Congress then enacted a law called Title IX that made it where women had to be treated equally, were allowed to pursue any subject they wanted, and could play sports. Title IX was a turning point because women had so many new rights and things they could persevere anything they wanted.
