1- Increasing the frequency of a circuit may damage any capacitors in the circuit.

The reactance of capacitors reduces as frequency increases, so they draw more current, and may burn out. 2- Decreasing the frequency of a circuit may damage any inductors in the circuit. The reactance of inductors reduces as frequency reduces, so they draw more current, and may burn out. 3- The magnetic field of a motor is distorted in the opposite direction to the rotation of the armature. The magnetic field of a generator is distorted in the same direction as the rotation of the armature. Both these are called Armature Reaction. 4- The coercive force is the magneto motive force required to drive out residual magnetism from a material. This means that when the coercive force is applied, there is no magnetism in the material. 5- The lightest part of an atom is the electron, at nearly 1/2000th the mass of either the proton or the neutron. 6- A potentiometer has 3 terminals and is used to vary voltage. A rheostat has only 2 terminals and is used as a variable resistor to vary current.

7- The colour coding for capacitors is the same as for resistors, except the units are picofarads, instead of Ohms.
8- Type Certificates are issued by the National Authorities when the product shows compliance with the requirements of the National Code, i.e. aircraft, engines and propellers have demonstrated compliance with Certification Specification (CS) 23,25,27 or 29 for fixed wing and rotorcraft and CS E and P for engines and propellers. 9- A DMUX has one single input line, but many output lines. 10- A paramagnetic material has a relative permeability of greater than unity (a vacuum is unity). This means it is easier for magnetic flux to go through it than it would a vacuum, and it will concentrate the lines of flux. 11- Air Operators Certificate is required by the operator who operates aircraft registered in the U.K. used for public transport. Issued by the C.A.A. and continues to be in force providing the C.A.A. are satisfied with regular audits carried out at the owner's premises. 12- A Flight Data Recorder uses ARINC 573, is capable of recording last 25 hours with engines running for aircraft (ANO and JAR-OPS) and 8 hours for helicopters (ANO and JAR-OPS 3). Tape is plastic coated with ferrite or stainless steel, approximately inch wide and 850ft long. It has no outputs. 13- The coercive force is the magneto motive force required to drive out residual magnetism from a material. This means that when the coercive force is applied, there is no magnetism in the material. 14- Certificate of Airworthiness: An aircraft may not fly, unless it has a valid C of A issued or rendered valid by the country in which it is registered, (from AD261), this includes the Flight Manual. 15- The voltage of a cell is dependant upon the chemicals used in the cell only. Changing the size of the plates will only change the amp.hour rating, not the voltage.

16- A Minor Mod is one that has no appreciable effect on weight, balance, structural strength, reliability or any other characteristic affecting the airworthiness of the aircraft. All other changes are Major. 17- An air gap in an EI cored transformer will cause it to hum. 18- Random Access Memory (RAM) is generally a volatile memory, i.e. it looses its stored data when power is switched OFF. There are two types of RAM, Static RAM, (SRAM), Dynamic RAM, (DRAM). The latter is cheaper to produce. 19- If you short circuit the secondary coil of a transformer, the primary coil will burn out. 20- Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (EPROM) is erased by exposing the chip to ultraviolet light through a window on the top surface of the chip. This causes all memory cells to be discharged. 21- Placing a resistor in series with the field of a shunt wound motor will INCREASE the motor speed. This is because it reduces the BEMF in the armature and the armature then draws more current.

22Time is the coin of your life. It is the only coin you have, and only you can determine how it will be spent. Be careful lest you let other people spend it for you. -- Carl Sandburg 23Track Angle Error is the difference in degrees that the aircraft is to the right or left of the
desired track.

A Data-Bus Analyser is a carry-on piece of test equipment used to troubleshoot digital systems. It is used to receive and review transmitted data or to transmit data to a bus user. In most cases the analyser must be connected to the system at the connector plug of a LRU.
