PURPOSE OF JOB Support the operational delivery of examinations in Pakistan by developing planning and financial strategies in line with regional and global priorities Manage and lead the financial operations of products, programmes and projects implemented by the Exams Department of British Council in Pakistan Lead the performance of the national exams finance planning and procurement teams This position will be a core part of the national exams senior leadership team in Pakistan CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT Examination Services Department The British Councils Exams Department has set in place an ambitious plan to ensure its growth and greater impact in a fast changing, global environment. To do this, the department will be engaging and working more directly with partners, both internal and external from all sectors. The Exams Department has grown into a significantly large revenue business. It is now one of the largest operations within the British Council global network. Due to the scale of the operations, the organization requires a dedicated business support services team to manage its financial planning and performance. This team will be headed by the Director: Exams Business Support Services and will be responsible for coordinating the planning activity as well as periodically monitoring performance against approved plans. The team will also be responsible for analyzing trends and suggesting solutions for overcoming any performance gaps. Team Structure The position has two direct reports i.e. Head of Procurement and Head of Financial Planning & Analysis. The related team will be based out of Lahore/Islamabad (TBD) and each direct report will be managing a team of three to four people. The job scope will extend to three large offices in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and two small offices in Multan and Faisalabad ACCOUNTABILITIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND MAIN DUTIES Coordinate and lead on the annual financial planning activity for exams Conduct periodic reviews of performance of operations and business development teams vis a vis agreed annual plans Flag any lapses in business target achievement and support operational teams in identifying reasons and develop potential strategies to counter such lapses. Develop strategies for ensuring that the required market information on vendors and service providers is gathered on an on-going basis and is relevant, up to date and supports business and operational targets. Provide strategic inputs to the analysis of and make final recommendations for pricing of different exams products Cost management with the goal to provide strategic innovative solutions and ensure an efficient model to support operational objectives Coordinate and lead on national financial planning & performance monitoring and procurement exercises, by organising atleast two workshops/meetings in a year. Manage internal investments in innovation and IT solutions, thereby ensuring strategic advantage KEY RELATIONSHIPS The post holder will need to develop successful relationships with Regional stakeholders in South Asia, and the UK Regional decision support hub in India

A range of local consultants within Pakistan External and Internal auditors Operations and Business Development teams within the Exams Department Finance, Procurement and shared services teams

OTHER IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB The post holder is required to travel frequently, primarily within Pakistan, the UAE, and the UK. Passport/visa and/or nationality requirement. Right to work in Pakistan Security or legal checks required for this role.
