Note:
A Level-1 switching shelf is necessary when more than two resource shelves.
UIMC and PSN boards are mandatory for Level-1 switching shelf and at least
two GLIQV boards in this shelf.
Depending on specific capacity, PSN boards fall into Vitesse Packet Switch

The CHUB is control flow convergence center, and needs when system
capacity is more than 2 x BUSN + 1 x BCTC. Each pair of CHUB boards
provides control plane access capability of 21 BUSN or BPSN
subsystems, and inserts into control shelf slots 15 and 16.
The control shelf contains pair of CLKG boards, one is active and other
is standby. The CLKG board insert into control shelf slots 13 and 14,
and allocates system clocks to level-1 switching shelf and resource
shelves through cables.
The Main Processor (MP) board is a communication control center,
performs specific processing function. One BSC subsystem needs only
one pair of MP boards that are inserts into control shelf slots 11 and 12.
UIMC boards work in active/standby mode and inserts into control

The DIP switches are 4-bit switches. For E1/T1 trunks, DTB board consists
of two types of DIP switches. They are
2. DIP switches S10 and S11 are for setting the length of E1/T1 cables
S10 corresponds to E1/T1 chips 1 through 4 (E1/T1 1 through E1/T1
16) and S11 corresponds to E1/T1 chips 5 through 8 (E1/T1 17
through E1/T1 32).
S10 and S11 switches are set to OFF when the E1/T1 cables are long
(line distance to the next active device is more than 200 m).
S10 and S11 switches are set to ON when the E1/T1 cables are short
(line distance to the next active device is less than 200 m).
For T1 trunks, only S10 and S11 indicates E1/T1 cable length are
effective on DTB board and then the matched impedance of T1 is 100
ohm.

The VTCD board consists of CPU subsystem, Digital Signal Processor (DSP)
array, circuit switching subsystem and Echo Cancellation (EC) subsystem.
The CPU subsystem receives and extracts user packets from SDU board
and sends to DSP array for Enhanced Variable Rate Coding (EVRC). EVRC
