Overview
Project is the Geolog application for managing projects and performing multiwell processing on large numbers of wells. From Geolog Version 6.6 onwards, multiwell processing capabilities are also available in Geologs Well application. In Well, several wells may be loaded into memory, processed, and then the changes saved or discarded, as required. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that only a few wells be opened consecutively, based on available memory. If large numbers of wells are to be processed simultaneously, use the Project application (wells are not stored in memory, and data is immediately processed and saved to the database). The following functionality is available within the Project application: Project Specify wells and sections to limit processing. Within the "processing wells" subset, specify wells to be displayed using the Datum Create well and section lists. Specify datum settings to process a specific range of data.
Catalogs Display and modify details of wells via the Well Catalog. Manage sections via the Section Catalog. Perform batch administration functions on large numbers of wells.
See Catalogs for further information. Mapsheet Map and manage wells. Copy or include wells from other projects. Display maps of well locations using a variety of projections and basemaps. Display well deviation plots. Include CGMs as background map displays of contours, boundaries, etc. Graphically draw and display lines of section, and select wells that are displayed in cross section using Geologs Section application.
See Mapsheet for further information. Xplot Crossplot logs or log expressions from multiple wells. View and manipulate data in 3D format.
Perform regression analysis. Calculate new logs using contractor log interpretation charts, Ternary diagrams, etc.
See Xplot for further information. Frequency Create and format histograms of a single log from multiple wells to display the data distribution and cumulative frequency curve.
See Frequency for further information. Artist Graphically create or update CGM files. See Artist for further information. Loglan Create and edit Loglan modules for log processing and database access within the Project application.
See Loglan for further information. General Tools The General menu lists a variety of tools for performing operations such as using mathematical expressions to evaluate new logs or automatically remove spikes in a log. These operations, and many others in Geolog, start the Module Launcher to display a module for that operation. The modules, which are provided with Geolog, or created using Loglan, are used for displaying, creating, and editing data (for example, to show log values, edit output logs, etc.).
See General Tools for information on the individual tools found on the General menu, and Using the Module Launcher on page 2-31 for information on using the Module Launcher. Petrophysics Perform petrophysical analyses on all or a specified number of wells. Environmental corrections, formation evaluation and defining pay-zone characteristics are examples of some of the functions available.
See Petrophysics for further information on all the available functionality. Geology Perform geological analyses, such as facies and/or permeability prediction from wireline logs, facies propagation, dip analysis of array data, and image manipulation, on all or a specified number of wells. Modules to import dips and tops data from the 3D geological model and modules to export data such as well paths and well tops in a .csv file format, and surface picks in an .xyz file format. These modules are detailed in "3D Model" on page 1-18.
See Facimage, Geomage and Fuzzy Logic for further information on functionality.
See 3D Geological Model on page 4-1 for further information about the creation and maintenance of the 3D geological module and GS Wells on page 4-1 for information on how it is utilized.
