Register now for the Winter Weight Loss Challenge. Its nine weeks devoted to your body, your weight loss goals and your overall health.. The boot camp-like approach is tough, intense and focused but youll find a lot of support and help in identifying what works for you. Workouts are Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 7 am or 6 pm. Stop by the Front Desk for information or registration.

MeMBeR SPOTLIGHT Bonnie Lamb


I belonged to one of the national health clubs, but eventually, found myself dreading every visit. It seemed more a social club than a health club. Sure, there were healthy looking folks, but I felt it was more about partying and chatting. Thought Id check out the Y to see what it offered. At the Y the staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the members are open and pleasant. earlier this year, I began working out with Y trainer Shannon Savage whos given me a whole new game. Im amazed at her creativity. While shes conscious of my limitations, she constantly raises the bar and pushes me to do better. These little successes drive me on. Its almost like I have to answer to a higher authority. Ive been a member at Page Mill YMCA for about three years, and it has made me more comfortable with who I am and what I can accomplish. My workouts are no longer a chore, theyre satisfying and make me smile.

Stephanies tip of the month: Despite what you may have heard in the past, current studies show that the average American only gains about 1 pound during the holiday season. The problem is that then they never lose that 1 pound so they add up over the years. To avoid a 1 pound weight gain during the holiday you only need to burn an additional 55 calories a day, which is equivalent to an easy 15 minute walk.
