Northern Developers Announce Plans for New Family Dollar

Plans for developing property on North Broad Street in West Carthage are moving forward with a formalization of a lease agreement with national retailer, Family Dollar. Mr. Michael E. Lundy and Mr. Kent Burto, of Northern Developers, LLC, are pleased to announce the building of the new Family Dollar store at 21 North Broad Street, adjacent to Paul L. Vanier's Chiropractic Office. Family Dollar, a national discount retail store company, will relocate their store to a new 9,180 square foot building from their existing location at the Price Chopper Plaza on High Street, West Carthage. Construction of the new store building is slated to begin after the holidays as plans and permits become finalized. LUNCO Corporation will be completing the construction of the new store and Northern Developers will be leasing the building to Family Dollar long-term. A September, 2013 opening date is anticipated for the new store. Family Dollar looks forward to expanding their store into a free standing building that will provide much more needed space for merchandise. Family Dollar is thrilled to be the first store in this new shopping center, and we look forward to offering shoppers our everyday value and convenience at this new location, said Howard Levine, Family Dollars Chairman and CEO. As reported earlier in the year, this building project is just the first phase of the larger development venture proposed by Northern Developers and Lundy Development Corporation. Additional site plans for the North Broad Street property include a multi-housing complex that consists of 390 one-to-threebedroom rental apartment units and 150 town houses. A big box retail store, a sit-down restaurant, and a separate 20,000 square foot strip mall, with roughly a dozen spaces for smaller businesses, are also part of the development plans for the property. Michael E. Lundy of Northern Developers, LLC commented on the beginning of this Family Dollar store construction project. Its great that a national company is expanding in our community. The work we are doing on this project is also the beginning of the larger development project, such as some infrastructure work and site plan development. The Carthage area can expect to see substantial growth over the course of several years as this building project unfolds. With the expansion, residents will have access to more options in regards to housing and retail shopping, and should see the benefits of the general economic boost to the community.
