SOLUTIONS FOR SPINAL PROBLEMS Fighting Scoliosis V.K.

has been diagnosed with scoliosis (with a degree of 43 grades) at the age of 12. Wearing the corset and various physiotherapy exercises delivered little healing and the scoliosis continued its advance. During winter 2011 V.K. (now 29 years of age) has started the Alexander lessons with Anna Beck Magyari:
at the first lesson 45 days later

She experienced the first fundamental changes to better by learning to use herself in accordance to the principles of the technique:
primary control, "lengthening" the spine, "widening" the shoulders and smooth breathing pattern; correct use of joints and dynamic relaxation (while active throughout the day) through the conscious management of her own muscular tension.

V.K. applies these principles in her everyday activities and the condition of her spine continues to improve. http://www.posibil.ro/teachers Scoliosis in adulthood It started when I was 12. I felt a terrible pain in my back. It turned out that I had a scoliosis curve of 43 degree. I learnt physiotherapy at the National Rehabilitatation Center (Budapest, Hungary) for three weeks. After that I had to do the excercises without any supervision or correction at home. In the meantime, my corset got ready and I used it persistently for 22 hours a day. This plastic posture corrector took away my femininity and irritated my armpits. In the summer I had to change my T-shirt every two hours due to sweating. My doctor said that I should be glad that I didnt need surgery on my spine and dont even expect improvement as the use of the corset and the physiotherapy could only prevent any further deterioration. I have been to an osteopath too but it didnt bring any change into my

condition. Then after three years of suffering there was no more corset made for me and I only had to carry on with the physiotherapy. After getting a job I went to osteopath, yoga and swimming regularly. These things were only useful in the respect of maintaining my condition and my correct posture, meanwhile my scoliosis got worse. I heard about Alexander-technique a year ago, in the winter of 2011, when I was 29. I started the lessons with Anna Magyari Beck. Previously I was told that with a lot of work I can achieve some improvement in the skeletal disease but this was the first time in my life that I experienced a factual, evident change in my condition. This can be proved by even those friends of mine who used to see my back uncovered. Positive feedbacks encouraged me to use the Alexander principles many times in my everyday activities and to live with conscious use of my self. Now I know that the only solution in my case is if I learn the renewed use of my self - as I couldnt change the inner structure of my bones which makes me disposed to scoliosis. But with a controlled, conscious use of my self I am able to affect the working of my body and further improve the condition of my spine.

Between taking the two photos there was only 1,5 months.
