The study of the adjustments and expectations of Electronic Engineering freshmen students of Saint Marys University Introduction/background For

years the Saint Marys University had already attracted many high school graduates from all around region two and other neighboring provinces and now became one of the major universities in Nueva Vizcaya. The location of SMU was seen a determinant to find its relationships from expectation and adaptability of SMU ECE freshmen students. This research has been conducted to bring out some useful information pertaining to SMU BS Electronic Engineering freshmens adjustments and their expectation toward their college life. This study will determine how ECE freshmen students adjust and what their expectations as freshmen students of SMU. This study will also provide useful information, solutions, and recommendations with regards to the researchers selected study. Statement of purpose of the study This study aimed to determine how ECE freshmen students of SMU adjust to college environment and their expectations about their college life in SMU. Specifically this study aimed to: 1. Identify the negative and positive effects of SMU ECE freshmen students adjustments to their new life. 2. Develop counseling techniques regarding to ECE freshmen attitudes, behaviors and beliefs. 3. To examine the effects of family environment (e.g. parents marital status) on freshmen students adjustment to college and individuation-attachment.

4. To assess the effects of gender differences on freshmen student adjustment and their individuation-attachment. 5. Provide effective solutions related to SMU ECE freshmen students physical, mental, and emotional weaknesses. Significance if this study The researcher intended to help university counselors,professors, parents, and guardians to monitor control, and asses the behavior, attitudes, and beliefs of the ECE freshmen by developing an effective and efficient counseling programs, seminars and the like. SMU ECE freshmen students will also benefit from this formulated programs and recommendations. This will also serve as a useful data for future researchers with related study. Scope and limitations The researchers gathered data using survey questionnaires to determine some of the possible expectations that SMU ECE students think about Saint Marys Universitys educational standards and practices. The varieties of freshmens way to adapt on their new environment are also one of the major studies of this research. The researchers have managed their available time to conduct survey questionnaires for the completion of this research; the surveys are distributed on vacant hours of ECE freshmen. The survey was conducted at SMU particularly at School of Engineering Architecture. This study is limited only to ECE freshmen students of SMU; no other courses are included with the study.
