The site is located at the southern end at Fort Tryon park. It is an existing open lawn measuring approx 155x255. The lawn slope from west to east, about 12 and over the 155 length. Its between the park entrace on the south and the new leaf restaurant on the north. The park drive is on the east and the Heather Garden on the west. There are relatively open views of cityscape to the east and potential seasonal river views to the west.

A BIRD BLIND
FALL 2008
Central park resorvior is located between 86th and 96th street and covers a full one eight of the park space. e 106 acer water body is 40 deep and holds over a billion gallons of water. It is probably best known as the home to the 1.58 mile running track that surrounds it. Annual count shows 6400 bird in N.Y central park.
At the site there are many di enent kind of trees. Some of the trees which caught my attention are english elm, oak and cherry tree. What really interest me from the site is the pattern of the trees. When I did the site visit I observe that how each of the tree has a di erent barkpattern . So i draw the crack of the bark pattern and made the bird hide Skin / wall out of the pattern. The right to housing is codified as a human right in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights: "Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control." (article 25(1))
AFFORDABLE HOUSING
Instructors: Beyhan Karahan ----- Select appropiate site Site Visist Site Reaserch and Analysis re
A lack of affordable housing and the limited scale of housing assistance programs have contributed to the current housing crisis and to homelessness. The lack of affordable housing has lead to high rent burdens (rents which absorb a high proportion of income), overcrowding, and substandard housing. These phenomena, in turn, have not only forced many homeless; they have put a large and growing number of people at risk of becoming homeless. The limited level of housing assistance means that most poor families and individuals seeking housing assistance are placed on long waiting lists. Today average wait for section 8 vouchers is 35 months (U.S conference of mayors, 2004). A growing shortage of affordable rental housing largely responsible for the rise in homelessness over the past 20-25 years.

e waterbody bottom of the Flushing Creek is generally characterized as mud/silt/clay with some areas of sand. Dredging the lake bottom is one of the most important steps to improve the water quality. Daylighting of stotmwater, recreating streams and creeks by removing pipes which now discharge highway runo into the lake w/o any natural lteration by sun or soil, would help the heavy meatals and suspended soils that now sccumulate on the lake bottom.
Wetlands are areas such as swamps, bogs, and marshes where water either covers the soil or is present at or near the surface, particularly in the root zone, at least a good portion of the year, including the growing season. In the past, wetlands were generally considered unproductive or undesirable lands smelly and unhealthful, a breeding ground for mosquitoes and other pests and many were killed in to createfarmland or to develop land for housing & industrial use. More than half of the original wetlands in thecontinental United States have disappeared in the name of reclamation, disease prevention and food control. Scientists now realize that, far from being noxious barrens, wetlands play a key role in the ecosystem. ey act as lters, removing pollutants, including metals, from waters. ey serve as reservoirs & they aid food and erosion control by absorbing excess water. Wetlands are home to a great variety of plant & animal species, some endangered, that have evolved to live in the wetland's unique conditions. e preservation and, where possible, restoration of these vital habitats has become a primary goal of environmentalists around the world.

C4 districts are major commercial centers located outside of the central business districts. ey allow department stores, theaters and other commercial uses that serve a larger area. ey are not mapped as an overlay. C4 districts are not permitted to include home maintenance and repair services which would interrupt the desired continuous retail frontage. C4 districts are usually found in regional centers like Rego Park or Fordham Road. ere are a number of contextual C4 districts in which shorter, higher coverage buildings are encouraged. e commercial and residential bulk and density regulations in these districts di er somewhat from corresponding non contextual districts.
