About us:
Under the supervision of Prof. Azhar Husain Shah, Our team led by Fawad Asif and we are working on a project titled Finger Print Based Student Attendance System with the support and help of Engr. Adeel Arif and Miss. Kiran Fatimah. We started our project on 10/12/2012. Since the starting date we are keen to get the best what we can achieve from you and egger to put our knowledge we learnt up to today and what we will learn in near future in this project.

Introduction:
As we all know that everyone has his unique fingerprint so the fingerprint module will create a unique code against every fingerprint. In this system no mutual errors or false attendance can occur, you don`t needs to remember any password and you also don`t need to carry any card with you. Only your fingerprint will be used as it will be always with you. GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) modem will be connected to this system to send a SMS to the teacher or parents or the dean or admin. An RTC (real-time clock) can be connected to this device to record login and logout time. The brain of the system which is controlling it is based on the Microcontroller technology which is controlling the whole Finger print module and in the mean while replying to the commands that we are giving to it for the sake of matching the finger of students.

Purpose:
The question that arises is why we need this system? What is the need of this system? There is no exaggeration when we say that time is money and every business enterprise around the globe is continuously striving to save time and make more use of what they have. When talking about a university/companys need to survive in a world of extensive competition, steps are taken at a very fundamental level to make sure time is not wasted. In other words, time is managed properly not only for each task to be performed in a timely fashion but also to ensure that students/employees arrive and depart on time so that the university/company gets of its students/employees. But how can this be possible easily and accurately when manual time sheets are used or clock cards are used? A lot of the buddy clocking can be seen! The solution is quite simple: Finger print based attendance system In todays modern world of information technology, software systems and the internet have enabled our lives and task to be done accurately effectively and on time. Keeping this view in mind, finger print attendance system is designed in such a way that they not only meet with the changing requirements of a University in terms of number of students but also the fact that every small to medium enterprise needs to be able to afford it. Finger print student attendance system is plug n play; dont need to install any software. No hurdles in calculating, recording and controlling students time sheets attendance is marked automatically using Finger print student attendance system.

Design:
The project is self designed. All the technologies that are being used in this project are available in market the real effect that we put is how effectively we modify them and use for the ease of our consumer. because the basic idea that we have in our mind while designing this project is the ease of our consumer. As it is said customer is always right. Now proceeding towards design, which is not as simple as making a noodle. Keeping in view the size of a Finger Print Based Student Attendance System and number of items that has been placed in it. We are using different technologies in this project like: Finger print Module, Micro Controller and GSM Communication etc. The project design consists of: i. ii. iii. iv. v. vi. vii. viii. Finger print Module SM630 Micro controller Atml89S52 16 x 2 LCD Max 232 GSM Module Buzzer Driver Circuit Battery Backup.

All these things combined, aligned and programmed to form our project.

Software:
Software that we are using is simply proteous and keil and microcontroller burner. Keil is used in order to make the program code of our controller. Proteous in order to make the circuit diagram of our project and simple circuits that are designed in this circuit. Burner is used to burn the program on the controller.

Progress:
Up to now we have checked the availability of the components in the market learnt about the different phases of the project also make us well aware of the software that we are using in this project. More over moving towards the project we guys try to make a finger print module successes achieved and we guys superbly checked out the phenomena of the finger print module now our next step is to make interfacing of the finger print module with the controller. Moreover we start working on software and doing programming.
