Format for Internship Report

a. Title Page This should give the following information:

i. The full title Internship Report


ii. The name of the student

iii. Submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirement for the


MBA of the Sikkim Manipal University, Manipal iv. Name of the Learning Center v. The month and year of submission b. Photocopy of Certificate of Internshipo A photocopy of the Certificate received from the Organization where the Internship was undertaken should be included in the report. c. Acknowledgement Only genuine assistance must be acknowledged and it should be in the format shown below: I would like to thank Name of Learning Center Faculty and Name of the Organisation or place of Training for their help and assistance accorded to me during my Internship. Note: Only genuine assistance must be acknowledged.

d. List of Contents
This should be in sequence, with page numbers, all sections of the report including acknowledgements, headings, appendix materials, bibliography and list of abbreviations

e. List of Figures, Forms, Formats and Pictures

It is indicative of various tables, graphs and figures in the report. If these are high in number, they may be separated into different tables. However, if the number of such illustrations is less, these should be included in just one table.

f. List of Appendix Materials


This will provide for a quick reference to the various Appendix in the project

g. List of Abbreviations Used


This must mention the abbreviations used extensively in the Project.

h. Chapter 1: Profile of the Organization


This chapter will have the profile of the organization where the student has undergone his internship. The student may provide a brief profile (in 1or 2 pages) of the place where the organization is located.

i. Chapter 2: Profile of the Department(s) Trained In


This chapter will have a profile of the department in which the student has undergone Internship. Here the student will describe the sections under the department, services provided to the custormers, profile of the customers using the services if the department is a revenue center, organization charts and job descriptions, staff scheduling, shift timings etc.

j. Chapter 3: Layout of the Department and tools used


This chapter will have layout of the department if the department is an operational department, with drawings or pictures and descriptions of the tools (S/W etc. ) used for operating the department.

k. Chapter 4: Operations
This chapter will describe in detail the operational aspects of the department. the jobs carried out, work schedules, form and formats used and their importance.

l. Chapter 5: SWOT Analysis


This chapter will provide an analysis of the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats of the Hotel or Organization and the Department trained in. m. Conclusion This chapter will detail a summary and recommendations for improvement. Suggestion recommended will have to be practical and enforceable.

Presentation and Format All students are required to submit one hard copy of their report to the respective Learning Center within the date stipulated by the University.

a. Paper: A 4 sized paper must be used and should be white and of good
quality

b. Type: The Report must be printed neatly using an acceptable word


processing format.

c. Layout: The margins at the left hand edge should be no less than 40mm
and other margins no less than 20mm. Type should be at least 1

spaced except for intended quotations or footnotes, which should be single line spaced. Typing should be on one side of the paper only.

d. Binding: The report should be book-bound only. There should be no


illustrations on the cover page.

e. Cover Title: The outside front cover must bear the title of the work in
Block capitals (28 point) with the name of the student and name of the Learning Center.

f. Spine Title: This must bear the surname and the initials of the student
and the year of submission in the same lettering as the front cover. The lettering must read from left to right when reading the spine vertically.

7. Assessment Procedures

Performance Appraisal done by the Industry as described in the

Performance Appraisal Form (Form 1: as shown as Annexure H Form 2 (as shown as Annexure J) Includes the following:

Internship Report = 30 Marks (as per prescribed criteria) Power Point Presentation on Internship =30 marks (each student will present a 10 minute power point presentation of the Internship. The presentation should include a brief of the property, the department/s worked in and Operation Aspects of the department worked in) Viva Voce = 40 marks

Evaluation Process:

Form 1 (as shown in Annexure H) filled by the immediate Supervisor/Manager in the department or organization trained in stipulates 20 marks to be marked by the supervisor or manager of the department or organization the student trained in. (As per Internship : Performance Appraisal Form)

For students who are trained in more than one department, the average score of all departments will be taken for Guided Exercise marks.
