Year 8 Statistics Project- Holidays

In this unit we had to survey people and receive quantitative data. With the information we had to make a graph that represents the mean, median and mode. We had to make blog posts about our data collection and what we would do it about. Research question: My research question was Which holiday do you like the most? Reference: I think that for this project I used Organization the most because I had to use my time effectively and usefully and gather all my information and resources by the deadline. I had to organize my time for each part of my report.

Data Collection: I will collect my data by using and online survey. They website Ill be using is Survey Monkey. I chose this specific website because it gives me good data and it shows me a sample graph which can give me an idea of how I can create my own. Evidence: This is my evidence that I have gathered from the results of my survey. (Only 35 people took my survey, I looked at the obvious and just started to gather my data)

Calculations: Range: 20 Mean: 47 (total surveyed) divided by 6 (number of categories) = 7.8. Since we cant have .8 of a person, I would round it up to 8. Which means: On average, out of the 47 people there would be 8 people who enjoy each holiday. (With help from Nandini) Mode: Summer, because it is the category that people chose the most.

Explanations and Comments: When I collected my data, not many people had taken the survey as I had hoped that they would. There was enough data to get my graph and data but I think that that if some more people could have taken my survey I would have had more to inquire on. I think that the best calculation for me was my mean because it explained everything in a simple for and it is easy for others to understand if they wanted to know how I got my calculations correct. I think that the data could have been collected in a different way be me going out individually and personally asking each person my question. This would have been better because then I could have gotten an answer from all the people and my data would have been complete. Conclusion: The answer to my question is that the majority of the year chose summer as their most favourite holiday. It was only after I had started taking my survey is when I realized that we werent allowed to take categorical data. So if I could do the whole project again, I would organize myself and understand the task because I had lots of difficulty with this certain task. I could improve by doing individual surveys instead of e-surveys, so that my data could be complete.
