To improve students confidence to apply a specific prefix.

LINGUISTIC OBJECTIVE: To explore the semantics aspects of the prefix un. CULTURAL OBJECTIVE: To notice the similarities between the use of prefix in English and Portuguese. MATERIALS: Whiteboard, markers, material previously prepared.
PROCEDURES: WARM UP: (5 MINUTES) Ask if the students had ever heard about Mail Art and Postcrossing Explain what postcrossing is, if they never heard about it Tell them that our project for the course is to do and send a postcard Discuss the importance of talk about feelings in that postcard Inform that we are going to talk about feelings in that class Ask to give examples of some feelings that they know in English Write them on the board

NEW SUBJECT MATTER: (15 MINUTES) 1. Write on the board the prefix -un in front of some of the feelings that the students gave examples. 2. Ask them what happens with the meaning of the word after the -un 3. Work on vocabulary that will be used during practice putting the words on the board PRACTICE: (20 MINUTES) 4. Divide the class in two groups 5. Explain to them that they are going to play a game 6. Each member of the group should do a mimic about a feeling that they had previously worked on 7. Each group has 1 minute to guess the feeling in English 8. If the group don't know the feeling, or answer it mistakenly (accuracy), the other group has one shot to give the right answer. CONSOLIDATION: (5 MINUTES) 9. Give two boxes of chocolate to the winning team and one to the other. 10. Ask, based on the activity, what was the function of the prefix -un CLOSURE: (3 MINUTES) 1. Inform students that we will continue discussing the prefix -un on the next class 2. Tell students that the list of the feelings used in the practice will be available on the email HOME ASSIGNMENT: (2 MINUTES) Ask students to bring images that they want to use on the postcard.
