We shall treat each with respect and dignity and shall strive to guide them in making wise decisions. In working through excellence as academic advisors, we shall strive to be proactive, equal and fair with all student populations, including at-potential students, students of diverse backgrounds, multicultural and underrepresented students. We are committed to help students become self-starters who will take ownership of their education and well being, resulting in a higher retention rate. Advisors Goals Our goal is to provide a supportive environment for our students. We strive to assist them in achieving selfunderstanding and self-acceptance throughout their experience at Georgia Tech. Aside from helping students choose workable schedules each semester and work out long-term schedules, we are available: To mentor students personally and academically in a realistic manner To help students to take ownership of their education To guide students to be excellent academically and personally by using our expertise to bring out the best of each student To be proactive with at-potential students, students of underrepresented groups, and students from multicultural and diverse backgrounds To assist students in identifying educational plans consistent with their goals and objectives To help students with their decision-making skills To help students understand policies, procedures, and programs, on both the School and Institute levels To provide students with the available resources at Georgia Tech and in the community that can enhance their academic and personal goals To promote Self-starters Independence Well being High retention rate
