conditions of the final site insta llation, a rid procedures are described for carrying. Standard was adopted by the Standards Institution on 18 December 1978, after the draft fll1alizcd by the Pumps Sectional Committee had been approved by the Mechanical Engineering Division Council. 0.2 This standard is one of a series of I lid ian Standards dealing with the acceptance tests for centrifugal, mixed flow and axial pumps. These standards would correspond to thre~ classes of tests A, II and C; the use of Class i\ and 13 is restricted to special cases when thne is a n~cd to have tIle pump performance more precisely defined. The Class A is the most accurate whereas the Class C is the least accurate. It should be borne in mind that Class A and 13 test require more accurate a!)paratus and methods which increases the cost of such tests. 0.3- The standard arr:lngements and procedurcs desGihccl are tho~e to be employcd Cor testing a pump individuall\O, without reference to its fin:11 irElalbtion conditions 0:' the effect upon it of :lny ;"suciatcd littillg" tl,e,c !)('il1g the usual conditions ill "oJ1ich ;~ pump is tested at the manufacturer's works. 0.4 Pump perform:lnce may be afl"ccteu by

1. SCOPE
1.1 This standard lays down proc~dures for acceptance testing of pumps. It defincs the terms a nd quantities that arc uscd and established the methods of testing :lnd the \\Oays of measuring the quantities involved according to Class C so as tD.:lscertain the performance of the pump and to compare them with the rnanuf;lcturer's guarantee. 1.2 This standard applies to any size of pump
