NBFI members are responsible for reading the banned list and cannot use lack of knowledge in defence of failing a test.

8. A failed drug test for all steroids, pro hormones, diuretics, growth hormones, peptides and other listed banned substances carries an obligatory lifetime ban. Failing to provide a sample, or refusal to do so after one has been requested, will result in a lifetime ban from competition. 9. The N.B.F.I. The member agrees to this by signing the membership form. 10. The N.B.F. I. may, at any time and without offering a reason, refuse any new applicant membership, and may withdraw membership to any existing member. 11. The N.B.F.I. All N.B.F.I. members should read the current WADA Prohibited List to ensure they fully understand what is on the banned list. It is not the responsibility of any N.B.F.I. official to recommend any substance or product to any member, or to confirm for any member that any such product is allowable either in or out of competition. 12. An Anti-Doping Rule Violation in accordance with these Rules carries an obligatory lifetime exclusion from N.B.F.I. membership. In the case of some stimulants, narcotics and medicinal substances, shorter membership exclusion may be imposed at the discretion of the N.B.F.I. Committee.

Please note, that it is the responsibility of each individual to establish whether or not any substance they have taken, are taking or wish to take in future is permissible for use under N.B.F.I. rules. This can be done by checking substances or ingredients against the current list of prohibited substances which is accessible through the WADA website for this purpose. In the case of ingredients shown on labels "proprietary blends" or other names which do not appear on the prohibited list, please check with the manufacturer of that product that it is safe for use in drug tested competition before using it. If you are still in doubt after these steps, you take the substance at your own risk.
