Description :
Kapal layar bermotor Maruta Jaya 900 DWT, menggunakan dua sistem penggerak propolsi yaitu : mengadopsi layar dengan tipe Schooer Sails sebagai tenaga penggerak utamanya (Main Propulsion) dan motor listrik DC sebagai tenaga penggerak bantu (Auxiliary Propulsion). Pemakaian tenaga layar/angin untuk kapal layar bermotor Maruta Jaya 900 DWT ini adalah pada daerah pelayaran bebas dan kecepatan angin yang terjadi relatif cukup kuat. Motor listrik DC sebagai tenaga penggerak bantu digunakan saat kapal berolah gerak diperairan terbatas (pelabuhan) dan saat kondisi didaerah pelayaran yang dilalui kecepatan angin relatif rendah. Kebutuhan listrik di kapal bermotor Maruta Jaya dilayani oleh dua buah diesel generator AC yang masing-masing berkapasitas day a 130 kW, dan sebuah emergency diesel generator AC yang berkapasitas daya 48 kW. Sedangkan untuk kebutuhan listrik DC nya didapat dari dua buah diesel generator DC yang masing-masing berkapasitas 110 kW, untuk mensuplai motor listrik DC kapal sebagai penggerak poros propeller, dimana motor listrik DC tersebut diinstalasikan dalam hubungan Leonard.

Motor assisted windship Maruta Jaya 900 DWT, using two propulsion driving systems that are: using sail with Schooer Sails type as Main Propulsion and DC electrical motor as Auxiliary Propulsion. The application of sail or wind power for this motor assisted windship Maruta Jaya 900 DWT is at free cruise zone and the wind power that occurs is sufficient to drive the ship. DC electrical motor as auxiliary propulsion it is use in order to drive the ship at the harbor (limited waters area) and in the cruise condition with low wind power. The electrical need of the motor assisted windship Maruta Jaya can be fulfilling using the two AC diesel generators with capacity 130 kW each, and one emergency AC diesel generator with capacity 48 kW. Than for the DC electrical need can be fulfilling using the two DC diesel generators with capacity 110 kW each, to drive the DC electrical motor as the propeller shaft driver, which the DC electrical motor already install in Leonard connection.
