The moment I stepped out of our house on my very first day as a freshman student , I felt a sudden surge of excitement,

anxiousness, fear and delight all at the same time. I, like any other student, know that the first day will surely be all otted for the introduction and getting-to-know-each-other part. on my way to sch ool, I am already constructing my introductory speech. I consumed myself thinkin g of proper words to say so that I could project friendliness. After almost half an hour, I am already in front of Lyceum of the Philip pines University -- Cavite Campus. I glanced at the school building, which in fa ct, is one of the reasons why I chose to study here aside from the fact that I a m a JPL-SHL President Scholar here. I smiled at the thought and before I knew it , I am already standing before my assigned classroom. I made a final check of my things. EAF, check. ID, check. Binder, check. Pen and paper, check. 1"x1" photos and index card, check. These, according to t he official FB group, LPU-Cavite Freshmen 2012-2013, are what I need to survive the first meeting of my class. After a brief inventory, I slowly opened the door and welcomed the room which will be my safe haven and at the same time torture room for the first chapter of my college life. I inched my way to the middle seat at the back row. I composed myself fo r a minute and roamed my eyes around the room searching for familiar faces but I can hardly find any. After minutes of waiting, a girl approached me saying, "Ar e you Leo?"I just nod my head in confusion wondering who this girl is. Not long after, I remembered a friend of mine telling me that his classmate Kim, will be my classmate. I was relieved that the girl who approached me was indeed Kim. We chat for some time talking about ourselves and our classmates. We do the usual c riticizing of our classmates whom we barely know yet. The first bell rang followed by our professor and the over-rated introdu ction part began after our professor's self-introduction and discussion of schoo l rules and policies. "I love math.", this statement would sound cliche especial ly coming from us, Accountancy students. The rest of the subjects followed and m y first day is quite different for I am expecting nerdy-looking type of people b ut found only a few. During my first semester, I only got myself General subjects, no major a t all. I can say that I have adjusted fully in less than a month since I've been used to mingling with lots of people all of different personalities. I can say with my own experience that one should show your real self and the world will fo llow. Do not be afraid to show the people around you who you really are and with that, you can find the group that fits your personality. Some may say that in c ollege, you are all alone by yourself but for me it's the other way around. Yes, college could be intoxicating but you can lessen the stress with your new-found peers. Being alone by yourself in college simply means you have to be independe nt and be responsible enough for your actions. "In college, not everything will be spoon fed to you." I remember one of my professors telling us this. Indeed we're aliens from the education system in college but we are expected to act as matured students and we must bear in mind the words professionalism and responsibility. In college, it's much more differ ent from what we are used to during our elementary and high school days. Here, y ou'll experience having a remark of FDA after committing seven absences or more unlike in high school, you can still get a passing grade even if you're ten days absent. You're grade mainly depends on you but somehow it do relies on your pro fessor. You'll be one of those "Unlucky Ones" who have a terror prof. And much w orse if you'll encounter a professor who take his students personally. But tell you what? Just comply with your professor's requirements, do advance readings, h ave a good study habit and attend your class regularly and you can ensure yourse lf a passing grade. We'll never know, maybe next sem you'll be one of those resi dent scholars here in our school.

Talking about school events, Buwan ng Wika celebration and Paskuhan sa L PU are definitely great! I enjoyed every part of it. Another event I've attended is the JPIA Day. Sure it's quite exhausting but my classmates and I enjoyed it. I know for sure that it would be the same for the other colleges. I know that there are still a lot in store m still a freshman. I just hope that I could still overcome the growing responsibilities to be thrown cated but I know that I can finish this journey of side. for me specially now that I a have the courage to face and at me. College life is compli mine with our Lord God by my
