all times I take refuge. . " ; the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha . all the Three Vehicles and ' ; the Dakinis of secret mantra yoga, tlic Heroes, Heroines and Empowering Devis the great beings the Bodhisattvas, -

And above all, at all times ^' I take refuge in my Vajra Master. - ! I myself will become Heruka, For the sake of all beings, And then I will lead them To his supreme state

A^jrasattva M e d i t a t i o n
O n the c r o w n of my head a syllable letter pam transforms into a lotus and a white ah into a m o o n cushion, u p o n w h i c h f r o m hum a five pronged vajra emerges, marked by a hum at it's center, The hum radiates light and the t w o purposes are accomplished. The light returns, and transforms into a w h i t e Vajrasattya w i t h one face and uvo hands, h o l d i n g a vaJra and bell. Scared the vajra posture, he embraces his consort the w h i t e Vajra Bhagavati, w h o has one face and t w o hands, h o l d i n g curved knife and skullcup. Both are adorned w i t h silks and various precious ornaments. A t each of their crowns is . a n om, at their throats an ah, at their hearts a hum. F r o m the hum at their hearts -lights shine f o r t h , inviting the wisdom-beings, w h o have the same form as themselves. dza hum bam ho (They become inseperable.)

Once more lights.shine f o r t h f r o m the hum at their hearts, inviting .the empowering 'deities., . - v : - - , ' K-/: JirV-'"v--'^'"^ ' Oh, Tathagatas, I request you all to bestow on them the actual empowerment.

H a v i n g been thus requested, the empowering deities h o l d a l o f t vases filled w i t h , transcendental wisdom' nectar' w i t h w h i c h they bestow the i n i t i a t i o n upon Heruka Vajrasattva and his Y u m . ,^ '

T h e i r bodies are filled w i t h the transcendental w i s d o m nectar. The surplus spilling over the crowns of their heads, transforrhs into Akshobya, w h o becomes their c r o w n ornament. O n the m o o n disc at their hearts stands the syllable hum, encircled by the . hundred syllable mantra. : ::

'[Oh, BhagauanVajrasattva, please dear aivay all my defilements and the negative karma of all other beings and purify all commitments that, have been broken or have degenerated." ^ ^ In response to this request light shines forth f r o m the hum and the mantra rosary at their hearts. It purifies the unwholesome karma and obsurations of all beings and makes pleasing offerings to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. T-he essence of their n . . . . . . qualities of body, speech and m i n d shine back as white ngiu. It dissolves into the mantra rosaries and hum syllables causing a stream of w h i t e nectar to flow d o w n t h r o u g h the vajra and lotus of H e r u k a Vajrasattva and his Y u m . The transcendental w i s d o m nectar enters the c r o w n of my head and fills my,;whole body. Cleansing all of m y negative karma and obscurations of body, speech and m i n d , it purifies me completely. .

O Guru, be my protector. My commitments have been broken and have degenerated through my ignorance and delusions. Great Compassionate Leader of All Beings, Holder of the Vajra, in you the foremost of beings Ltake refuge. Then-V'aji-asattva says,- " O h daughter or son of the Biidda, y o u r negative karma ,and obscurations, and a l l degenerated and broken commitments are n o w cleansed and purified." ; A f t e r saying this, they dissolve into me and my three doors o f body.speech and m i n d become inseperable f r o m Vajrasattva's body, speech and m i n d .

The Yoga of the Tliree Purifications

(to cleanse the three doors is as f o l l o w s ) :

Stands for the m i n d , the ultimate source of everything; emptiness and the lack of inherent self, nature o f phenomena are discovered by analysing the properties of the causal m i n d . . Stands for the selflessness of persons, realized by a b a n d o n i n g the ego created by a n e t w o r k of w r o n g views inducing one to perceive an inherently existing self.

Glorious H e r u k a , your body v.-jch diicipimed arrection and peace, Blazes throughour the three r==!ms, gr-mg of'i countless rays of blue light, Brilliant as a hundred thousand suns. M a y the many dakinis of your bod-A l l simultaneously dance: By the t r u t h o f the wholy wise goddesses. By their pure commitments A n d flawless explanations, M a y wc be protected and helped. M a y I myself become Heruka. For the sake o f all beings A n d lead them to his supreme sr.vr If I do n o t o b t a i n this ultimate reahzacion, M a y I be received at the time of my death By Shri H e r u k a , his Consort and their entourage W i t h clouds o f offerings, the sound of glorious music A n d many auspicious signs. T h e n w h e n the clear light of bliss passes, M a y I be led to the pure land of Dakinis, The realms o^f^those wjio completed me3upreme^p A n d there may I quickly accomplish it.
