You clearly stated the learning goals at the beginning of the lesson. As we discussed, the introduction was a missed opportunity to connect student experiences to the initial explanation of the two countries. The Venn Diagram provided focus and purpose to their group work and engaged them in active learning opportunities. You used your questioning skills effectively during group work to encourage their thinking and at the end of the lesson to discuss key information learned. A goal for your teaching would be in the area of modeling. It would have been beneficial to have demonstrated how to use the Venn Diagram prior to beginning group work.
