Horse Racing At The Hipodromo Mijas Costa

If you are making plans to visit the sunny Costa del Sol this year and are looking f or something to do aside f rom spending your day on the beach sunbathing, then why not consider a day or night at the Mijas Horse Racing track T he Hipodrmo. Located slightly inland f rom Fuengirola and Mijas Costa, the Hipodromo represents a great opportunity to experience live horse racing on the Costa del Sol. But its not just about watching horses running around a track or losing the shirt of f your back! Its also a f un packed extravaganza, as there are also many bars, restaurants, live entertainment and even a childrens Rainbow play centre available during race meetings.

At various other times of the year there are other events held at the Hipodromo including f ootball training, language courses teaching Chinese, Russian and Arabic, rock and roll nights and f lamenco dancing to name just a f ew.

If bargains are what you are af ter, then the Sunday Market/Car Boot Sale is held at the Hipodromo every Sunday f rom 9am to 2pm. Entry is f ree. Where Is T he Hipodromo? T he Hipodromo is located a f ew minutes inland f rom the Parque Miramar shopping centre in Fuengirola just of f of the N-340 motorway. When Is T he Horse Racing On? T he racing is run at dif f erent times of the year. Summer meetings are during the months of June, July and August and mostly run at night f rom around 10pm. T here are also 6 meetings f rom September through December on a bi-weekly basis. Winter meetings are normally held f rom 11am with the doors opening at 10am. How Much Does It Cost? Entry is very reasonable at only 5 per person but is f ree f or under 18s and over 65s. How To Get T here? If you head f or the Parque Miramar shopping centre and f ollow the road at back up f or a f ew minutes, you will see signs to the track. At B-MET we can provide you with transf ers to and f rom the course f or larger groups and can cater f or up to 55 people in our f ully licensed air conditioned vehicles. Is T here Parking? Yes, there is f ree parking f or a total of 1,200 vehicles. What Facilities Are T here? T here are many f acilities at the Hipodromo including bars, restaurants and a childrens play area. T he restaurants serve a mixture of both local and international cuisine. T here is also live music played during each race at many of the meetings. In the summer of 2012, there will also be a new Paddle Centre opening at the Hipodromo.
