FEED BACK CONTROL SYSTEM

A closed loop control system is one in which the output signal has a direct effect upon the control system. That is closed loop control systems are feedback control systems. The actuating error signal, which is the difference between the input signal and the feedback signal, is fed to the controller so as to reduce the error and bring the output of the system to a desired value. In other words, the term closed loop implies the use of feedback action in order to reduce system error. An advantage of the closed-loop control system is that the use of the feedback makes the system response relatively insensitive to external disturbances and internal variations in the system parameters, It is thus possible to use relatively in accurate and inexpensive components to obtain the accurate control of a given plant, whereas this is impossible in the open-loop case. However, on the other hand stability is a major problem in the closed control systems, since it may tend to over correct errors which may cause oscillations of constant or changing amplitude. Numerous closed-loop control system may be found in industry and in home, Some examples are all the servomechanisms, most process control systems, automatic hoit water heaters, and Automatic home heating systems with thermostatic control action is fed back by Feedback Element to relay to reconnect current capacitor. Thus relay switches ON &OFF to maintain controlled voltage at the output..

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS EQUIPMENTS REQUIRED: 1) Trainer. 2) Digital Voltmeter 3) (D.C) 0-50 MA

PROCEDURE: 1 Connect 0-50 MA meter at the terminals marked MA. 2 Connect digital voltmeter at the output terminals marked as SET INPUT 3 Keep the Disturbance Adj fully anticlock wise position i.e. minimum disturbance. (Minimum current) 4 Plug in two pin power chord to mains supply of 230V, 50 CPS. 5 Put the mains switch in ON position Red LED will glow.

6 Keep the switch in discharge mode. 7 Set the switch in RESTART Mode. 8 Connect the digital voltmeter at the output terminals. The output voltage will increase but the Error signal will decrease, Measure Error voltage at ERROR SIGNAL Terminal. 9 As soon as Error signal becomes Zero output will be 1 V DC. The process LED will be ON OFF. As it will try to maintain output voltage constant at 1V D.C 10 Keep the Disturbance Adj. infully clockwise position. You will observe that it will have no change on, output voltage. Hence we have observed that the disturbance signal has no effect on final output voltage. 11 Take Observation at different settings of 1/p command signals

12 Repeat your observation for different input voltages say 2V, 3V, 13 Connect Voltmeter across the Control Signal Terminal. Measure the voltage levels when the process in ON and OFF.
