From the Director

Having launched in 2009, the Masters in Management (MiM) programme is still a new and exciting addition to our programme offering at London Business School. In 2010/11 we grew the intake by 40% compared to the inaugural year and I am delighted to report that even with this bigger class, the employment rate increased by one percentage point to 96% of students who had secured employment within 3 months of graduation. I would like to thank our recruiters for recognising the impact that our students and graduates can have in their organisations and continuing to hire from the School through these uncertain times. The number of companies that MiM students visited during Career Week increased year on year and new companies were welcomed onto campus for presentation and networking events. We have continued to develop our career skills programme based on feedback from both participants and recruiters. The Career Services team is working more closely than ever with student clubs to ensure that we maximise the opportunities for our students. For the first time we created sector specific CV books, including students in their early career, making it even easier for recruiters in some of the major sectors to find the talent that they need. It is promising that the number of graduates finding employment through the School community increased year on year from 72% to 75%. Finance is the most popular sector choice for MiM2011 graduates with 42% of the class finding work in finance organisations (half of those in investment banking), followed by 35% in consulting and 23% in other corporate sectors. Almost 10% of the class went into internet and IT companies; a trend which we expect to see continue to increase in the future. As the programme is becoming more recognised in the marketplace, we have already seen an increase in multiple MiM students being hired into the same organisation. This suggests that recruiters are valuing the contribution that MiMs are making and as the alumni base increases, this can only have a positive influence on the programmes potential. I hope that you enjoy reading the Masters in Management Employment Report 2011 for a more detailed analysis of our employment statistics. Kind regards
