Our Body Human body has a number of parts called organs that work together to perform different functions.

Organs are of two types: 1. Internal organs- These lie inside our body. E.g., heart, brain, etc. 2. External organs- These are present on the outer part of the body such as eyes, ear, nose, legs, etc. Some important internal organs of our body are: 1. Bones and Muscles Skeleton comprises of all the bones of our body. There are 206 bones in a fully grown human body. Skeleton gives shape and support to the body and protects the delicate organs inside the body. Meeting point of two bones is called joint. Joints help our body to bend and move. Muscles are attached to our bones. They help the bones to move as they contract and relax. 2. Brain It controls all the functions of our body. It is protected by a hard bony structure called skull. It receives messages from other body parts and sends them instructions through nerves. 3. Heart It is a reddish brown organ protected inside rib cage. It has muscles that pump blood to different parts of our body through blood vessels. 4. Lungs These are the spongy bags lying on either side of the heart. These help in exchange of carbon dioxide for oxygen in the body by the process called respiration.

5. Liver It is a dark red organ present on the right side of abdomen that helps in digestion of food. It maintains our body temperature.
