Aims of the course: The primary aim of Elementary Spanish101-102 is to provide you with the basis current standard Spanish. By the end of the course, you should be able to actively use the most basic structures in colloquial and written Spanish. In addition the course introduces you to contemporary Hispanic life and culture. The textbook and supplementary material will help you familiarize yourself with both language and culture.

Participation: Participation is based on attendance. It is important that we share our points of view in class and that we discuss the material. Three excused absences allowed for illness, family events, etc. After the third absence, each missed class will result in a deduction of one point from your final course grade. You will not be penalized for observing religious holiday or for participating in officially sponsored Wells events (academic, athletic, etc.) as long as you make arrangements prior to your absence to make up any work that you will miss.
Tests: There will be an exam at the conclusion of each chapter. There will be no make-up tests. At the end of the semester the lowest hour exam will be dropped.
Policies: Honor Code: Wells College Honor Code: (Wells College Community Handbook p. 8) Community honor shall be the basis of student government at Wells College. The principle of community honor is based on the pledge of each member of the student body to be honest and trustworthy in the conduct of her or his collegiate life as it is defined or encompassed by the Collegiate Constitution. Late Assignments: There will be a deduction of 10 points daily after the due date. Learning Accommodations: If you anticipate needing any type of learning accommodation in this course, or have any questions about physical access, please tell your professor as soon as possible and contact Chris Richardson, Coordinator of Learning Support Services at X3432, crichardson@wells.edu Class Etiquette: Arriving late will result in a lower participation grade. Please be considerate and turn off your cell phone, and or electronic devices while in class. Avoid leaving the classroom while in session, it is very disruptive and detrimental to the dynamics of the class.
