December 2012 Ranking of Ohio County Unemployment Rates

(Not Seasonally Adjusted) Among the state's 88 counties, the December 2012 unemployment rates ranged from a low of 3.9 percent in Mercer County to a high of 12.3 percent in Pike County. Rates increased in 67 of the 88 counties. In December, the comparable rate for Ohio was 6.6 percent. (See table below). Nine counties had unemployment rates at or below 5.5 percent in December. The counties with the lowest rates, other than Mercer were: Holmes, 4.2; Delaware, 4.3; Auglaize, 4.8; Union, 5.1; Hancock, 5.2; Franklin and Putnam, 5.4; and Wayne, 5.5 percent. Ten counties had unemployment rates above 10.0 percent during December. The counties with the highest rates, other than Pike were: Adams and Morgan, 11.1; Meigs and Ottawa, 10.9; Jefferson, 10.6; Huron and Scioto, 10.3; and Monroe and Vinton, 10.1percent.
