TECHXETRA 2012 TechXetra 2012, the annual technical festival of Tezpur University commenced from 1st of November with

the inauguration by Honorable Minister of State, Shri Pawan Singh Ghatowar, Ministry Of DoNER. Day 1 began on the 2ndof November with the INDIAN ARMY Exhibition which turned out to be a huge success and attracted both young and old. There were exhibitions by DRDO, KVIC, BIS and Assam Tourism. Philately and Book Exhibitions were organized by the students of Tezpur University. Afternoon of Day 1 unfolded with the Robotics module which saw 50 plus teams participating in different competitions. Alongside which preliminary stages of 60 plus other events including the much awaited rock band competition, METANOIA and five-a-side football started. The lecture series was inaugurated by Nimbuzz CPO Mr. Jamshed V Rajan who gave insights on corporate world and gave emphasis on entrepreneurship. As dusk fell, a NASA webinar with astronaut E. Michael Finke was held with a packed house. Thousands of participants interacted with the astronaut about the enigmatic theme of space science. There were some light hearted moments where he talked about his Assam connection. The cultural night kicked off with the ongoing Metanoia prelims which saw 26 bands participating and DJ Karma enthralled the crowd with his peppy numbers. Day 2 started with the paper presentation competition on sustainable technology. Midday of day 2, people witnessed a highly acclaimed panel discussion on Role of Renewable and Sustainable Energy in the development of India particularly North-East by eminent personalities like Dr. D.R. Das(Director,MNRE,NE) , Mr. Balasaheb Darade, (Ex NASA Engineer), Dr. Syed Raza(Entrepreneur), Dr. S.K. Samadarshi (Professor, Dept. of Energy, Tezpur University) and Mrs. Meena Vaidyanath(social activist). Techxetra 2012 saw 70 plus teams of school children battling it out for Full Swing, the school quiz. Ex NASA scientist Mr. Balasaheb Darade continued the lecture series and in the end of which he cited Revolution will come and we will bring it. The day ended with the Metanoia finals with Ticks Talk emerging victorious and Judas Ancestry coming in second. The headlining band was Melodrama from Nagaland.

Day 3 started with Wrangle, the debate competition on the topic Formation of Political Party by Team Kejriwal is justified? Afternoon witnessed 75 teams battling out in the open quiz, Full throttle gaining massive audience with the winner and runners up bagging a total cash prize of Rs. 25,000. The quiz master was Mr. Vijay Anand Menon, 2011 ECONOMIC TIMES YOUNG ACHIEVER. Mr. Kanak Gogoi, (highly acclaimed innovator) had an interactive session with the students and ended the lecture series of Techxetra 2012. As the day ended, all the events eventually concluded including a special event called App Evolve where the winner developed a multi-level game within 3 hours. Euphoria, one of the most popular and oldest bands in India, ended the beautiful journey of Techxetra 2012 with a bang, performing to a crowd of over 10,000.

TechXetra 2012 laid a milestone in the history of technical festivals in North East, providing such a big platform to the students of the region to showcase their talents, with participation from all parts of the country plus is now known in national as well as international audience. The Title Sponsor was Ministry of DoNER. Associate title Sponsors included Nimbuzz, TI Cycles of India and The Assam Tribune. The presenting sponsors of TechXetra 2012 were State Bank of India and NEIST. The major sponsors included KVIC, Rose Valley, Central Bank, DRDO, Power Grid, NEEPCO and Hi-Tech Constructions. Listed in the international events calendar of UNO, TechXetra 2012 was collaborated with 8 major organizations of international repute. There were more than 75 general sponsors without whose contribution; TechXetra 2012 wont be such a great success.
