Keynote Speaker

Dr. Veronica Williams-Latnie is a clinical therapist who has extensive experience working with adults and children in outpatient psychiatric clinics, schools, hospitals, and substance abuse centers. She holds the honor and distinction of being a Board Certified Diplomat in Clinical Social Work from the American Board of Examiners in Clinical Social Work and the American Psychotherapy Association. ABC 12 designated Dr. Williams-Latnie as its resident expert on child and family issues and her Parent Tips segment aired weekly on ABC 12 for more than four years. In addition, ABC 12, WEYI 25, and WMNE 5 seek her advice regularly on many issues. In 1992, Dr. Williams-Latnie opened her own psychiatric clinic, which offered a variety of treatment services to adults and children in Flint, Michigan and surrounding areas. After a brief retirement in 2009, Dr. Williams-Latnie was recruited to become the Director of Behavior Health Services for Hamilton Community Health Network, which serves the communities of Flint and surrounding areas, with six locations.

P HYSICAL H EALTH :

Taking Care of Me Ought to be A Love Affair - Our beliefs are learned thought patterns we have developed since childhood, many of these work well for us, but others may be working against us. This session will discuss how to use Positive Affirmations to challenge and under mind negative beliefs and create healthy, positive selfnurturing beliefs. (high school only) Young & Getting Over It Is everything really a big deal?? No, not everything. This workshop will show you how to turn the other shoulder, be a leader, and not follow peer pressure.
S PIRITUAL H EALTH

Tired of Being Tired - This workshop will cover how important having proper sleep is to your health, tips on how to sleep comfortably and recognizing signs and symptoms of having a sleeping disorder. Body Image: Inside Out Just because you fit the ideal size doesnt mean that you are healthy. This workshop will help students understand the importance of looking good on the inside, not just the outside. Ive been diagnosed with STRESS This work shop will cover the health effects of stress and offer different stress management techniques. (high school students only) Y.O.L.O. You Only Live Once - This youth led, interactive workshop is designed to provide youth with education, skills and tools to make safer and healthier decisions about their sexual health. The workshop will identify the stages of HIV and the four major modes of transmission, and other risk factors. While focusing on abstinence as the primary method of prevention, the workshop will also provide information and demonstration of safer sex tools.
M ENTAL H EALTH

Cleanse the Body, Cleanse the Soul What you eat does in fact effect how you feel. This workshop is designed to enlighten you on what foods and meals contribute the most to your overall well-being. Power of the 5 Senses This is a hands on work shop that will demonstrate how triggers of our 5 senses can uplift your spirits or weigh them down. What does your Aura say about you? It is often said that the energy you give off, is the energy that you will attract. Is your aura saying what you want it to say? Commitment to Faith = Commitment to You Many professionals believe that having faith and believing in a higher power helps with things such as healing, stress levels, and quality of life. Learn what they know and have seen.

The Intelligence of Emotions Emotions can be very tricky and cause people to make decisions they sometimes regret. Learn how to identify, address, and handle your emotions in the most productive way. Let It Go: Learning to Cope Life situations and events can often cause depression and other feelings of despair. This workshop will offer different coping methods that can be used when faced with traumatic issues. Organized Chaos Test, studying, work, family, clubs, and etc.the life of a college student can be very demanding. If its not managed correctly, it can cause unnecessary stress and depression. This session will show you how to strategically organize your life so that it works for you, not against you.
