Section 5-2 Grounded Emitter Amplifier. Purpose: The purpose of this section is to observe the behavior of the Grounded Emitter Amplifier with a capacitor parallel to RE and then without the capacitor. Schematic:

Fig 5-2 Grounded emitter amplifier Analysis of data: We construct a voltage divider with a 10 k ohm and a 100 ohm resistor and calculate
the gain, which was about 100.

Vin,pp= VFG,PP/100=1.922 V/100= 19.0 mV

Fig 5-2-1 Screen shot

(1) We measure the voltage gain with the capacitor. GAIN= 4.32/.0186=232.25

Fig 5-2-2 screen shot with capacitor (2) We removed the 15F capacitor and measured the voltage gain. GAIN=.1385/.0192=7.21

\ Fig 5-2-3 screen shot without capacitor

Conclusion: In this section we observed that without the 15F capacitor, the distortion decreased.

Section 5-3 Current Mirror Purpose: The purpose of this section is to observe the behavior of a current mirror circuit. Schematic:

Analysis of data: A.1) 1) V15k = 14.84V V15k = IR I = V15k/R I= 14.84V/15k

Iprogramming = 0.9893mA 2) Iout = 1.69mA It is somewhat close to the measured value of 0.9893mA. There is a difference of 1.69mA 0.9893mA = 0.70067mA. 3) As you warm Q1, Iout decreases. As you warm Q2, Iout increases.

A.2) 1) Iout = 1.24mA It is closer to the measured value of 0.9893mA than 1.69mA measured from A.1) (2) There is a difference of 1.24mA 0.9893mA = 0.2507mA. 2) We measure Iout as we increase the resistance starting from zero ohms. Iout (mA): 1) 1.21 2) 1.16 3) 1.14 4) 1.13 5) 1.10 6) 1.08 7) 1.07 Conclusion: Over the 10k load, Iout varied by 1.21mA 1.07mA = 0.14mA.

Section 5-6 Push-Pull Purpose: The purpose of this section is to observe the crossover distortion by building a PushPull circuit. Schematic:

Analysis of data: 1) With the ELVIS Function Generator to maximum amplitude, and a 1 kHz sine wave, we obtain ht e cross-over distortion.

2) We used the Dynamic Signal Analyzer to take these measurements. The source channel was ACH1. THDoutput = 17.80%

ELVIS Dynamic Signal Analyzer (Source Channel: ACH1) 3) We set up the Dynamic Signal Analyzer to measure the input sine wave.

Fig 5-6 (3) Analyzer plot using 10 KHz frequency

ELVIS Dynamic Signal Analyzer (Source Channel: FGEN FUNC_OUT

THDoutput = 1.47% Conclusion The THDinput in section 5-6 (3) is much less than the THDoutput in section 5-6 (2). difference = 17.80 1.47 = 16.33%.
