SECTION I
INTRODUCTION
PT Fuse Failure Relay Model PTF03 is an electronic static relay,
designed to monitor the inadvertent removal or Iailure oI the PT
Iuse. It is suitable Ior 3 phase, 3 wire or 3 phase, 4-wire application.
This work at a phase-to-phase voltage oI 110 V.
PTF03 is very easy to install at any site. Its compact size reduces
the panel space requirement and the draw-out construction makes
the maintenance work easy.
SECTION II
INSTALLATION
2.1 Preliminary check:
Check the relay Ior any obvious damage. II Iound damaged, repack
it and inIorm nearest L&T s oIIice /dealer.
This is a selI-powered relay, due to which an auxiliary supply is not
required. But this is suitable Ior 3 phase 3 or 4 wire application with
phase to phase voltage oI 110 Volts.
2.2 Mounting and Wiring:
PTF03 is designed Ior Ilush mounting on the panel. ReIer Fig.1 Ior
panel cutout dimensions and space required behind the panel, Fix
the mounting clamps supplied along with to the top and bottom side
oI the relay. Insert the relay through panel cutout and hold it Iirmly
against the panel cutout and hold it Iirmly against the panel. Tighten
the screws on the mounting bracket.
Wire the relay terminal s as shown in the wiring diagram. ( ReIer
Fig.2) Relay terminals are suitable Ior 2.5 mm. Sq. lugs. Fix the
protective cover back on the terminal block with the help oI two
screws aIter completing the wiring.
NOTE:
1 REMOVE THE RELAY FROM THE PANEL DURING
TRANSPORTATION.
2. ENSURE PROPER EARTH CONNECTION TO THE
RELAY
2.3 Settings
PTF03 will not require any settings Irom the user, so it can be
connected across the Iuse as per the wiring diagram.
SECTION III
3.1 Operation
During the normal operation oI PTF03 only power on LED will be
glowing. II there is any Iuse Iailure in any phase it trips and
indicates in which phase the Iuse has Iailed. AIter tripping iI there is
any other Iuse Iailure the corresponding LED s will glow. Only
aIter replacing all Iuses the relay will come back to it`s normal
position until then it will remain in tripped condition.
3.2 Maintenance
PTF03 does not need any routine maintenance during its working
liIe. It does not contain any user replaceable / serviceable parts. In
case oI any Iailure oI the relay inIorm nearest L&T oIIice.
PTF03 has draw out construction hence in case oI Iailure control
card alone can be removed and replaced without removing the
complete relay Irom the panel. The control card contains electronic
component sensitive to static electrical charge hence should be
handled careIully taking precautions such as ensuring the human
body is at 'Ground potential beIore removing the control card Irom
the relay, packing the card using 'anti static material, not touching
any components on the card as Iar as possible.
To remove the control card Irom the relay Iollow the instructions
given below:
1. Remove the transparent cover Irom the Iront panel by
removing the two screws.
2. Turn the two screws located at top right and bottom leIt
corner oI the panel through 90 degrees ( clockwise / anti
clockwise)
3. Pull the panel out using the handle provided on the Iront
panel
To install the control card back in the relay Iollow the
instructions given below:
1. Observe that locking pins on two screws at top and bottom
corners oI the panel is sin horizontal direction. ( This pin is
on the backside oI the panel.)
2. Engage the card careIully between two card guides mounted
in the relay enclosure
3. Push the card in Iully till Iront panel locks n with click
sound.
4. Turn the two screws at top and bottom corners oI the Iront
panel through 90 degrees
5. Pull the handle to insure that card has locked in properly.
6. Fix the transparent cover back with two screws.
