Korean Numbers
Name: Jeff Date: June 12, 2012 Level: Beginner

Action points (These are techniques/ideas that you are working on in your own teaching) Giving Ss enough time for each stage in the lesson Having fun and enjoying 1. What are you teaching? a. Language points List the specific vocabulary, grammar points, pronunciation points, phrases, structures you will teach on an attached sheet. (Remember to detail form, meaning, and use of target language).
b.

Language skills circle (or bold) the primary skill and underline any others you will address: Listening Reading Writing Grammar

Speaking

2. What are your Student Learning Objectives for the lesson? (These should be specific and describe observable student behaviors, which you will be able to see in class.) By the end of the lesson, SWBAT: ask for and give their telephone number using the

numbers 0-9 in Korean, in a whole-class mingle activity.

3. When/How in the lesson will I check students progress toward the above Learning Objectives? (In other words, what behaviors/activities will show me whether they have mastered the material?) a. What vocabulary/grammar/information/skills do your students already know in relation to todays lesson? Ss will be familiar with these types of interactive learning activities, and so they will know how to participate, even if they cant understand any words. b. What aspects of the lesson do you anticipate your students might find challenging/difficult? The number of TL words (10) and the complete newness (i.e. there are no cognates) may seem overwhelming to some Ss. The pronunciation of some sounds (like the R/L blend, or the short /k/) may be difficult for some Ss. c. How will you avoid and/or address these problem areas in your lesson? In order to deal with the quantity of words, I will break them into 3 separate groups, so that Ss have a chance to encounter and clarify numbers 1 to 3, then 4 to 6, and finally 7 to 9 and 0. Also, I will place more emphasis on fluency and being able to communicate the numbers, and less emphasis on accurate pronunciation in this lesson.
