Given:
LAC=100 m, LCD=200 m, LDE=100 m, LEF=150 m, LFB=200 m.
Conductor impedance = (0.05+j0.015) /phase/100m.
The loads are balanced and supplied at both points A and B with a transformer at each
of them 11000/415 V, secondary side star connected and each load is three phase and
star connected.
Wanted:
1. Each Transformer secondary side phase current.
2. The voltage magnitude of the point of the lowest voltage.
3. Phase Output power of each transformer and Power Factor.
Solution:
Single phase Load Currents:
Load at point C: 40A, 0.8 PF = (32 - j24) A
Load at point D: 60A, 0.7 PF = (42 j42.8) A
Load at point E: 30A, 0.9 PF = (27 j13.1) A
Load at point F: 50A, 0.8 PF = (40 j30) A
Single phase line segments Currents:

Let iAC = (I) A

iCD = (I 32 + j24) A
iDE = I 32 + j24 (42 j42.8) = (I 74 + j66.8) A
iEF = I 74 + j66.8 (27 j13.1) = (I 101+ j79.9) A
iFB= I 101+ j79.9 (40 j30) = (I 141+ j109.9) A
Single phase line segments Impedances:

ZAC = (0.05+j0.015)
ZCD = (0.1+j0.03)
ZDE = (0.05+j0.015)
ZEF = (0.075+j0.0225)
ZFB= (0.1+j0.03)

Voltage Drop:
VAB = 0 = (0.05+j0.015) (I) + (0.1+j0.03) (I 32 + j24) + (0.05+j0.015) (I 74 +
j66.8) + (0.075+j0.0225) (I 101+ j79.9) + (0.1+j0.03) (I 141+ j109.9).
0 = 0.375 I + j0.1125 I 35.394 + j14.16
(0.375+ j0.1125) I = (35.394 j14.16)
I = (35.394 j14.16) / (0.375+ j0.1125)
I = (46.1 j36.7) A = 58.9 A angle (-38.5o)

Thus:
iAC = (46.1 j36.7) A
iCD = (46.1 j36.7 32 + j24) = (14.1j12.7) A
iDE = (46.1 j36.7 74 + j66.8) = ( 27.9+j30.1) A
iEF = (46.1 j36.7 101+ j79.9) = ( 54.9+j43.2) A
iFB= (46.1 j36.7 141+ j109.9) = ( 94.9+j73.2) A

(46.1 j36.7) A

(14.1 j12.7) A

(27.9 j30.1) A

(54.9 j43.2) A

(94.9 j73.2) A

1. Transformer No.1 Secondary side phase current is equal to (46.1 j36.7) A

which is 58.9 A angle (-38.5o)
Transformer No.2 Secondary side phase current is equal to (94.9 j73.2) A
which is 119.85 A angle (-37.6o)
2. The point of lowest voltage is point D.
VD = 239.0 (46.1 j36.7) (0.05+j0.015) (14.1j12.7) (0.1+j0.03)
= 239.0 5.197+j1.299 = (233.8+j1.299) V = 233.8 V
3. Phase Output Active Power of Transformer No. 1:
Pph = VIcos = 239.0 X 58.9 X Cos (38.5) = 11016.85 Watt = 11 kW
And power factor PF = 0.78
Sph= VI = 239.0 X 58.9 = 14077.1 VA = 14.1 kVA
Phase Output Active Power of Transformer No. 2:
Pph = VIcos = 239.0 X 119.85 X Cos (37.6) = 22628.88 Watt = 22.63 kW
And power factor PF = 0.79
Sph= VI = 239.0 X 119.85 = 28644.15 VA = 28.6 kVA
