Course Information Sheet

Title Ref Date & Dur. Location This course presents both the fundamental basics and up to date technology for cogeneration and combined cycle plants using steam and gas turbine units. The course starts by highlighting the importance, uses, types, and benefits of cogeneration. It then presents the main components, operation and control especially at part load of combined cycle. The characteristics and operation guide lines for combined cycle using either gas turbine or steam power plant and environmental impacts using combined cycle plants will also be presented. Many case studies along with the participant's analysis and discussion will enhance understanding the material and concepts presented in the course. Upon completion of the course participants will gain an understanding of:

Who should Attend

Facility/utility engineers, environmental engineers, development engineers, consulting engineers, technologists, technicians, operating personnel or anyone requiring a working level knowledge of power generation. Dr. Mohamed R. Taha, a consultant and professor at Cairo University designed and will deliver the course. Dr. Taha has a long teaching and research experience in the areas of heat transfer, combustion systems, and power plants. He is well recognized consultant in the area of boiler assessment, steam turbines, and gas turbines. Dr. Taha published more than 30 technical papers on the area of industrial furnaces applied to power plants and supervised many master and Ph. D. thesis on the same area. He has had many years experience in organizing and lecturing training courses for engineers in Egypt and Gulf area. The courses cover combustion systems, boilers and steam generations, steam turbines, and gas turbines. The participants always agree that Dr. Taha is excellent in knowledge, presentation, and they strongly advice his future courses. Alternative:
