MS. MILA MAGNO Alumna St. Agnes Academy (SAA) Class 63 Dear Ms. Magno: Greetings from the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO)! We would like to invite you to join us in the upcoming Second Global Summit of Filipinos in the Diaspora to be held on February 25, 2013 (Pre-summit Activities) at EDSA People Power Monument and The Medical City; and February 26-27, 2013 (Summit Proper) at the Dusit Thani Manila Hotel and Resorts, Makati City. As an agency under the Office of the President of the Philippines mandated to promote and uphold the interests, rights and welfare of Filipinos overseas and strengthen their ties with their Motherland, the CFO is initiating the Summit in partnership with the Global Filipino Diaspora Council (GFDC), the US Pinoys for Good Governance (USP4GG) and Youth Leaders in the Diaspora (YouLeaD). Around 400 participants from all over the world are expected to attend the said event. For more information about the Summit, you may log on to www.d2dglobalsummit.cfo.gov.ph. With the theme Two Years Thereafter: The Best of the Philippine Diaspora and the tagline Balikbayanihan para sa Inang Bayan, the Summits primary objective is to highlight best practices of diaspora engagement since the launch of the Diaspora to Development (D2D) flagship program during the First Global Summit held in Manila in September 2011. In addition, the CFO intends to institutionalize and maximize overseas Filipinos (OFs) involvement in the socio-cultural and economic development of the Philippines through ten (10) major areas of interventions including skills and technology transfer, arts and culture exchange, educational exchange, business linkaging, diaspora investments, global legal assistance and advocacy, and return and reintegration. The Summit also hopes to strengthen networking among OFs in the different regions of the world and accelerate participation of second- and third-generation OFs in the countrys development initiatives. We would appreciate it if you can also share this invitation to your co-SAA-alumnae and signify your participation by sending back the attached registration form via email or fax on or before February 04, 2013.
