LEARNING OUTCOMES At the end of this assignment, you should be able to: 1. 2. Design, implement and evaluate a usable Internet application for use on multiple browsers, including connection to a well-designed database and using server and client side scripting applying Web standards. Create a web application applying Web standards and accessibility.

ASSIGNMENT BRIEF As one of the members of a Web Development Team that consists of 3 4 persons, you are assigned to develop a Web site for a students sport club. The objective is to create a Web site that will serve as a resource for both members and non-members who are looking for information, activities and resources. The Web site must demonstrate database connectivity and client/server processing. Only ONE type of sport or game is allowed. The Web site MUST consist of the following pages/sections: Club mission, vision and objective Rules/regulations for the sports/game Required Attire/equipments etc. (please refer to Requirement section)

The Web site must demonstrate good usage and appropriateness of multimedia element. You are expected to provide good interface design principles and a full functional navigation.

REQUIREMENTS The website must fulfill the following criteria; i.e. it should: Consist of 10 - 20 interlinked pages. Contain proper examples of appropriate usage of the XHTML elements. Demonstrate Stylesheets usage, this may be by: External Internal Inline style Combination of the above three Provide quality content. Demonstrate database connectivity to perform the following tasks: Display records Insert new records Update / Modify records Delete Records Contain a registration page for new members. Contain member module (require a valid login) to manage member activities. Contain administrator module (require a valid login) to manage the Web site content and database. Perform form validation. Contain a guest book for visitors to give their comments and suggestions. Demonstrate web accessibility features, e.g. use alternate text for images. Provide appropriate navigation support. Perform proper file organization and naming convention. Be viewable on multiple browsers and settings

Note: The usage of web page creation tools is permitted.

DOCUMENTATION Your documentation should contain at least 3000 words. The documentation should include the following: Format: Type face: Times New Roman/ Arial. Bold face, italic & lines can be used for emphasizing and to enhance readability. Font size: 12(except tittles and headings). Margins: 1 from the left, right, top & bottom of the edges of the A4 paper. Spacing: maximum 1.5 lines between texts of a paragraph. Alignment: justify. Headers and footers can be used. Numbered.

Binding: APIIT standard for Level 2 Cover page, your cover page should contain the following items Your Name and ID. Intake code. Subject. Project Title. Date Assigned (the date the report was handed out). Date Completed (the date the report is due to be handed in). UCTI logo Recommended Content Acknowledgement Table of Contents The table of contents should have the topic title and reference page number attached to each topic. Introduction/ Project Plan This section introduces your project including the background information of the club, and objectives, scopes, targeted audiences, project schedule, and a summary of the major functions of your website. Requirement Specification This section defines the audience modeling, tasks to be completed, major functions of the web and etc. Design and Modeling The section defines the database structures, interface design, website architectures, Web page descriptions and etc. Discuss the design decisions made and the reasons for them Implementation Discuss the steps on how you implement the system. Conclusions (summary and future works) References Appendices

SUBMISSION The complete Web site and project documentation (softcopy) in the form of a CDROM. The project documentation (hardcopy).
