Coal gasification is the process of producing coal gas, a type of syngas a mixture of carbon monoxide (CO), hydrogen (H2), carbon dioxide (CO2) and water vapour ( H2O) from coal. Coal gas, which is a combustible gas, was traditionally used as a source of energy for municipal lighting and heat bef ore the advent of industrial-scale production of natural gas, while the hydrogen obtained from gasification can be used for various purposes s uch as ma ing ammonia, powering a hydrogen economy, or upgrading fossil fuels. Alternatively, the coal gas (also nown as "town gas") can be converted into tra nsportation fuels such as gasoline and diesel through additional treatment via t he Fischer-Tropsch process. coal gasification Coal gasification is the process of producing coal gas, a type of syngas a mixture of carbon monoxide (CO), hydrogen (H2), carbon dioxide (CO2) and water vapour ( H2O) from coal. The electrofilter removes the incombustable parts of the coal, which are carried in the fluegas stream as flyash. The fluegases stream after leaving the steam ge nerator, coming from the air preheater, in the lectrofilter through prallel, 30 cm wide openings. These gases are formed by plate-formed positively charged electrodes. Electrica lly isolated spray electrodes are suspended on which a negative voltage is appli ed. Undr the dinfluence of the electrical field the flow ash settles on he posti ive plate electrodes. The filtered dust is sha en by an automatic, periodic vibration of a hammer mech anism from the plates, falls into the dust funnel and is subsequently lead to th e flyash silos. From here ist is transported for furterh use as building materia l in the cement industry. The separating part in electrofilters is nearly 99,9%. The flyash collecting in the separators or discharge funnels is fine, dry and abrasive with a typical tem perature of 140C and a granulation size of up to 300 micometers.
