Love in Action

February 2013
There is a lot of misinformation about love in our culture these days, especially around Valentines Day. Most TV sit-coms are about lust and shallow relationships, not deep lifelong commitments to one another. Whether we are speaking about love for a spouse or child, or love for a fellow believer in Jesus Christ, we need to understand Gods love standard. One of the most important facets is that love is much more than mere words, love can be seen in actions.
1 John 3:18 Dear children, lets not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions. TLV

The words I love you are meaningless unless followed up by a lifestyle of positive actions toward other people. This is the sort of love to which we are called. With that in mind, are you able to say that you love the

people who call FCC home? Do you actively work to promote harmony and positive Christian fellowship so that the world can see we love one another? Or do you merely tolerate others, ignoring them by your lack of involvement, etc? Maybe this would be a good season to ask God to give you His love for others. Jesus love isnt just some gushy feeling, it is a love that was displayed by giving up His life for people who hated Him. -Pastor Randy

From Your Closet to the Worlds Needy

You have heard us talking a lot about the FCC Clothes Pantry ministry. But did you know that some of our former clothes are now being worn by people in Nicaragua? This past May when a group of FCC college students went on a mission trip, they took suitcases full of clothes to give away. Everywhere we went we distributed a few items of clothing so that the I love you of the gospel would be seen in concrete actions. series oph

The series of photos on the right took place on a day-long hike to some of the neediest. We gave a t-shirt and shorts to an 80 year old man living in a hut on the side of a volcano (he is sizing them by seeing if they fit around his neck); we gave some to a family with an unbelieving husband, to some children, and to a mother with a very ill baby. At each stop we not only showed love in action, we called upon God to supernaturally heal and meet the deepest needs of the each person. Like Jesus modeled, the Good News is easier to understand when real needs are met. Lets never forget just how blessed we are next time we are tempted to complain. Our castoffs can be someone elses treasure - both here at home and abroad.
