RULES FOR SAFE OPERATION KNOW YOUR TOOL To operate this tool, read this operating manual and all the labels affixed to the jigsaw carefully before using. Keep this manual available for future reference. IMPORTANT This tool should only be serviced by a qualified service technician. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS THOROUGHLY GENERAL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS Consider Work Area Environment. Keep work area well lit. Do not use tool in presence of flammable liquids or gases. Keep the Work Area Clean. Cluttered work areas and workbenches invite injuries. Guard Against Electrical Shock. Avoid contact with grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. Keep Children Away. Do not let children touch tool or extension cord. Keep children and bystanders away from work areas. Store Tools Properly. When not in use, tool should be stored in a dry, locked place, out of reach of children. Do Not Force the Tool. It will do the job better and more safely at the rate it was intended. Intended Use. To ensure safety, use the tool for its intended purpose only. CAUTION: Do not attempt to operate this tool until you have thoroughly read all instructions, safety rules and warnings. Proper Clothing. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery, which can get caught in moving parts. Rubber gloves and non-skid footwear are recommended when working outdoors. Wear protective hair netting to contain long hair. Safety Glasses. Use protective eyewear or a dust mask when operating tool. Secure Work. Use clamps or a vise to hold work in place. Do Not Overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. Stay Alert. Avoid accidental start-ups. Use common sense. Do not operate tool when you are tired. Check Damaged Parts. Before using this tool, check guards and other parts carefully to determine if they operate properly and perform their intended functions. Check the alignment of moving parts; check also for binding of moving parts, breakage or damage of parts, incorrect mounting, and any other conditions that may alter the tools operation. Any part that is damaged, defective switches included, should be properly repaired or replaced by a qualified service technician. Do not use the tool if the starter switch is not functioning properly.

WARNING: The operation of any tool can result in foreign objects being propelled into your eyes, resulting in severe eye damage. When operating power tool, always wear safety goggles or safety glasses with side shields and a full face shield when needed.

WARNING: Remove adjusting keys or switches before turning the tool on. A wrench or a key that is left attached to a rotating part of the tool may result in personal injury.

WARNING: If any parts are missing, do not operate the tool until the missing parts have been replaced. Doing so could result in serious personal injury.

ELECTRICAL SAFETY Double insulated tools are equipped with a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). This plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install a polarized outlet. Do not change the plug in any way. Double insulation eliminates the need for a three wire grounded power cord and grounded power supply system. Hold tool by insulated gripping surfaces when performing as operation where the cutting tools may contact hidden wiring or its own cord. Contact with a live wire will make exposed metal parts of the tool live and shock the operator.

Avoid contact with grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is grounded. Dont expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. A wet power tool will increase the risk of electric shock. Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord to carry the tool, or pull the plug from an outlet. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Replace damaged cords immediately. Damaged cords increase the risk of electric shock. When operating a power tool outside, use an outdoor extension cord marked W-A or W. These cords are rated for outdoor use and reduce the risk of electric shock. Replace damaged cords immediately. Use of damaged cords can shock, burn or electrocute. If an extension cord is necessary, a cord with adequate size conductors should be used to prevent excessive voltage drop, loss of power or overheating. The table shows the correct size to use, depending on cord length and nameplate amperage rating of tool. If in doubt, use the next heavier gauge. Always use UL and CSA listed extension cords.

APPLICATIONS This jigsaw should only be used for: Cutting wood, particle boards & thin metal sheets To make adjustments to the shoe of the jigsaw or install blades, use the hex key that is stored in the hex key storage area.

BLADE INSTALLATION

WARNING: Disconnect the tool from the power supply before installing or removing a blade.

Open blade guard and press down on collar. (see Fig. 3). Insert the jigsaw blade as far as it will go. Release the collar. When inserting the saw blade, the back of the blade must rest in the groove of the guide roller.

ATTACHING THE VACUUM HOOKUP ADAPTOR

For a clearer cut line your jigsaw can be attached to a vacuum system that will suck dust away from the cutting line. This jigsaw comes equipped with a vacuum hookup adaptor that allows a standard household vacuum system to be attached your tool. Insert the vacuum hookup adaptor into the outlet located at the rear of the jigsaw. See fig. 4

SWITCH

Your jigsaw comes equipped with a right/left lock-on button for continuous operation. To use the lock-on feature, depress the trigger switch and push in and hold the right/left lock-on button. Release the trigger switch and your jigsaw will continue running. To deactivate the lock-on feature, depress the trigger switch and release it. Depending on the users preference, the jigsaw can be locked from the right or left side. If you have the lock-on feature engaged during use and your jigsaw becomes disconnected from the power supply, disengage the lock-on feature immediately. VARIABLE SPEED DIAL

This jigsaw comes with a variable speed dial, located on the handle. The variable speed dial can be adjusted by sliding the dial forward or backward to the desired speed. The switch is numberedone is the slowest speed (500 SPM) and max is the fastest speed (3000 SPM). OPERATION Before attempting to use your jigsaw, familiarize yourself with all the operating features and safety requirements. STARTING

For accurate cutting, hold the jigsaw at a right angle to the workpiece. Hold the base of the jigsaw firmly against the workpiece. ARC CUTTING In the case of small circles or arc cutting, reduce the cutting speed compared to ordinary straight cutting. NOTE: Too much pressure may break the blade when cutting arcs or circles.

METAL CUTTING

WARNING: Always wear safety goggles or safety glasses with side shields when operating tool. Failure to do so could result in serious injury from objects being propelled into your eyes. Use cutting oil or emulsion for cutting steel and turbine oil for cutting non-ferrous materials (aluminum). CAUTION: Avoid using the jigsaw for prolonged periods of time. Due to the vibration of the tool, hand fatigue could occur.

BEVEL CUTTING

NOTE: Before adjusting the tilting base, be sure to remove the vacuum hookup adaptor. Loosen the bolt on the tilting base using the hex key provided. Adjust the bevel adjustment scale to the desired angle and tighten the bolt. At times it may be difficult to cut at 45 angles. In such a case, clamp the workpiece. See Fig. 5.

BLADE STORAGE COMPARTMENT
