Diksha - Initiation The one who gives Deekshaa is Guru. His is bigger than the scriptures.

Many times scriptures are made by Guru. One who wants deeksha should respect his guru. Should not get into the complexities of scriptures. The one who wants deeksha is yet to learn how to walk. Scriptures are the rules of running in Olympics. Deeksha is not a ritual. Some scriptures would have told like that. But it is more of a defence mechanism. We can say deekshaa is transfer of energies. We can see a sound of Veda "Mama vrate te hrudayam dadhaami, mama chittam anuchittam te astu. Mayi vaacham ekamanaa jushasva, bruhaspatistvaa niyunanastu mahyam. I am placing my penance at your heart. Let your heart follow mine. Follow my words meticulously. Sage Bruhaspati has sent you to me. In thousands of scriptures there are millions of methods of deeksha. In authentic scriptures deeksha is placed in the jail of numbers. Because it is numbered, it does not lose its santity. Tradition is no opposition to deeksha. Non tradition actions also not prohibited in deeksha. It is the free will of the Guru. There is a saying that without deeksha, there is no light, no life and no sight. Is this true? It is not only true, but unchanged over time. But we have seen many times intiate has risen, fallen and even vanished? There are three reasons for this. Guru, disciple and the deeksha itself. Though the person is an autom of the world, the autom has its own world. So the qualities of Guru or the deciple decide the fate of deeksha. When guru is not a guru or disciple is still an animal, these things happen. Deekshaa given by any type of compulsion, or in an unsuitable mental state will not yield.

Deeksha is not a manual work of Guru. It is the devine execution of the God. There is no disciple who would not get a Guru. There is no life which is not initiated. The essence of life itself initiates the life. Deeksha is not living. It is making the dead to live.

Let it be parashurama kalpasutra or shaaradaa tilaka, scriptures have identified deeksha as a ritual. In this meaning, there are three major deekshas. Shaambhavee, Shaaktee and Maantree.

In a good moment Guru should make the disciple to sit in his presence and make presence of mind of disciple. In private, in calm environment, place the right foot on the desciples head. Based on the nature of disciple, Guru can keep his left foot. The disciple should hold the foot of Guru and feel that nectar is showering on his entire body. The time taken for this procedure is decided by the guru who is beyond time. Then slowly guru takes out the foot from the head. Now disciple cleans the feet of guru in a plate and sprinkles that water on to his own body. Guru touches the body of disciple and places his palm on the head. This is the sketch of Shaambhavi Deeksha

In a good moment, in the room for initiation, Guru brings the disciple from the door and makes him sit on a comfortable seat. Applies sandal paste on his body and applies kumkum to his forehead. Then using the index finger, Guru touches the bare body of disciple from base of the spine till the top of the head. Guru will repeat this based on the sensing power of the disciple. This is for the disciple to feel his energy rising. This is a flash view of Shaaktee deeksha.

There should be two seats one in front of another. One for Guru and another for disciple. Guru brings the disciple and make him to sit on a seat. Clense his gross, subtle and karma bodies and make him to do achamana. Then Guru should introduce the desired diety to the disciple. He should tell the method of meditation and make desciples mind towards the diety. Then placing his palm on the head, initiate the Mantra. If this is not enough based on the sensing power of disciple, the Guru should press the place between eyebrow of disciple by his index finger and initiate the mantra. This is the tantra of Mantree deeksha.

In many scriptures, the same procedure is defined with different names. Sharadaa tilaka says Varnaatmikaa, Kalaavatee and Vedhamayee deekshas. Other scriptures describe the the three varities as touch, look and sound. The method of Deeksha is the decision of Guru. Scriptures have just compiled them. Deekshaas are not three. They are thousands. But they are not just the ritual. But is the open door for energy. From here on, the path is as much as the desciple has energy. For one who grows, the entire world is the farm.
