Aims
1. To create a well discipline, constructive atmosphere within Bishop Challoner
Catholic Collegiate Schools.

2. To avoid confusion to families especially those parents who are both working.

3. To allow staff to make family arrangements, it is necessary to clearly state

lesson times.

4. To encourage students/families to fulfil religious duties within their local parish.

5. To support learning and access to education resources and facilities.

The following changes to the school day have been agreed by Staff and Governors.

Time Wednesdays only

8.30 - 8.35am Staff briefing in Library. 8.30 - 8.35am Staff briefing in Theatre.
8.35 - 8.50am Registration. 8.35 – 9.15am Registration & PSHE
8.50 - 9.40am Period 1. 9.15 – 9.55am P1
9.40 - 10.30am Period 2. 9.55 – 10.35am P2
10.30 - 10.50am Break. 10.35 – 10.55am Break.
10.50 - 11.40am Period 3. 10.55 – 11.40am P3
11.40 - 12.30pm Period 4. 11.40 As on other days
12.30 - 1.20pm Period 5 Lunch Break G
1.20 – 2.10pm Period 6 Lunch Break B
2.10 – 3.00pm Period 7.
3.00 - 3.05pm Registration

Homework and club classes are from 3.30 – 5.00pm.

Library and Computer Facilities available for Year 11 and Sixth Form until 4.45pm.

Holidays of Obligation
Dates will be listed in the Bulletin.
Masses will be held in school.

End of Term Arrangements

At the end of term (NOT half-term) students will be dismissed at 2.30pm after
registration and prayer. A member of Leadership will visit each class before
dismissal.

Inset Days
Inset commences at 8.30am and staff are free to leave the premises at 3.00pm.
Assistant Director – staffing must be informed of alternative arrangements.

Use of 1265 Hours

It is recognised that most staff work much in excess of the 1265 hours; however it is
a legal requirement that this number of hours be allocated.

Duration of Day 8.30 – 3.05 = 5 hrs 45 mins

No of Days/yr 190

Total time for lessons = 1092.5 hrs

Inset Days 5 x 5 hrs & 45 mins = 28.75 hrs
12 evenings (parents) 3 hrs = 36.00 hrs (not everyone attends all)
4 Y7 dem. Lessons (4 x 5 hrs) = 20.00 hrs
