LEVEL 1 LESSON 21
In this lesson, we are going to have a look at how to make There are mainly two ways to do this. How to make negative sentences in Korean 1. Adding

negative sentences in Korean.

[an] before a verb [ ji an-ta]

2. Using the negative verb ending,

Method #1 is more simple and more colloquial, and method #2 is relatively formal but not necessarily only for formal situations. If you want to use method #1, and add [an] before a verb, its easier than method #2 because you dont have to worry about the different tenses of your sentences. The word [an] doesnt change the tense.

Examples
[ga-da] = to go . [ jib-e ga-yo] Im going home. / I go home.

. [ jib-e an ga-yo] Im NOT going home. / I DONT go home. ? [ jib-e an ga-yo?] Youre NOT going home? / You DONT go home?
[beo-ri-da] = to throw away . [geu-geo beo-ryeo-sseo-yo] I threw it away . [geu-geo an beo-ryeo-sseo-yo] I DIDNT throw it away. . [geu-geo a-jik an beo-ryeo-sseo-yo] I DIDNT throw it away yet.

Examples using method #2 (adding [ji an-ta]) [ ji anta] is the basic form and you need to conjugate it according to the tense, too.
