Fiction we will be reading

Note the 1st two weeks of class are to get situated, hence we will start with some movies, such as Johnny Got His Gun, Marat-Sade, & Holy Mountain please show up, as we will be going over things during the movie, before, after, its important, even if you know the film inside and out

The Antichrist by Roth and The Red Goddess by Peter Grey - April May -- nothing/final work time Non-Fiction we will be reading with the Fiction

Alice and Wonderland - Through the Looking, the entire month of Feb, starting from the 1st day of class Sylvia and Bruno -- March

Deleuze and Guattari Zizek as well as Presentation of Everyday Self and Cog.-Behavioral Psychology as it intersects the social contexts (institutional entities formed) of In-dividuals (divuals contra individual) - March Badiou and others - April and May

Erich From essay (as well as others, such as a great essay on testing and racism) - 1st weeks of class

Irigaray & Lacan (together, we will read Irigaray and refer back to Lacan) - Feb

What is due when -- pay attention -- here are your options: (a rubric will be given out,
which contain subjective and objective grading standard by which we will judge through):

A. four essays of 5 pages, cited, research, hypothesis, an academic type paper, a five part essay at the very least that will be an essay on any of the five (the Lewis Carroll has in reality four separate books, even if they go together, and can be treated as a whole, all four, as parts, Alice and Looking Glass & Sylvia and Bruno vol 1 vol 2, or individually), these essay must address the theory in some way we are reading with the fiction (the months correspond) B. 2 Five-7 page papers, and one 10 page, same rules as above C. two 10 page essays, same rules as in A. D. a single or one 20 page essay , same rules as in A. F. Due Dates are as follows (note, if you cannot make a deadline let me know before as to not be penalized for being late): A. If you choose to do Four 5 page essays: Feb 28th, March 21st, April 25th, May 8th B. If you choose to do Two 10 page essays: April 21rd, May 8th C. If you choose to do One 20 page essay: May 8th

G. YOU HAVE THE RIGHT and WILL REVISE ALL YOUR ESSAYS, each page with contain feed back on both mechanics and thought with specific directions for revision G. AS STATED ABOVE WE WILL BE HANDING OUT A RUBIC ON OBJECTIVE GRADING MEASURES which will be posted on Bb in the Content Section H. Grades:

Bonus and Extra Credit can be substituted for all but the Essays, *BUT you must have 20 pages of substantial researched academic writing, research essays (as well as some other types of academic non-fiction work acceptable for journals, and we always encourage you to do work that fits with your degree and future plans, as well as your desires)
FYI 1: we will also be doing some written work the 1st two weeks, really short quick stuff, but important FYI 2: the 1st day or so, prob. 2nd and 3rd whatever, we will be going over the book list as noted in an early email you will be expected to do research as your forge your own path of interests as it relates in some recognizable (even if distant, when in doubt ask) manner!
