NOTE #1: During the recitations of Feb 26-29, material relevant to the grading scheme employed in Exam #1 will be presented by the Recitation Mentors in Recitations. This material will come from pp. 29-32 of the textbook and from Handouts #17 and #18. NOTE #2: During the recitations of Apr 23-26, students should read & discuss with their Mentors all of Chpt 1. The information there is relevant to understanding how experiments and observational studies are designed and their results interpreted. The intent is to help prepare students for writing an essay at the final exam about an experiment of their choice they have participated in during the semester. The essay is to discuss that experiment in terms of : 1) the question it sought to answer, 2) how it was designed to do so and the methods employed, 3) what possible results were expected, 4) their probably significance in general, and 5) more specifically, the experiments relevance to other things learned in the course. There will be two general reviews on May 7 & 8 for the exam on May 9.
