Resolution No.

47, Series of 2012

WHEREAS, paragraph (h), Section 8, Article II of Republic Act 9997 mandates the NCMF to promote and develop the Philippine Halal industry and accredit Halal-certifying entities/bodies for the utmost benefit of Muslim Filipinos and in partnership or cooperation with appropriate agencies, individuals and institutions here and abroad; WHEREAS, consistent with the aforesaid mandate, the Commission promulgated Resolution No. 46, Series of 2011, entitled Approving the Criteria
and Guidelines for the Accreditation of Halal Certification Bodies/Entities in the Philippines which, as can be deduced from its title, sets forth the criteria and guidelines in accrediting Halal certifying entities or bodies;

WHEREAS, as approved by the aforesaid resolution, particularly, under Section 13 on fees and charges of the criteria and guidelines, the amount of Thirty Thousand Pesos (P30,000.00) will be charged against the body/entity whose application for accreditation shall have been approved; WHEREAS, the Halal accrediting bodies/entities are earnestly requesting for the reduction of the aforesaid amount, considering that, for one, a renewal fee on a yearly basis is likewise charged against them, and, for another, the amount is exorbitant for regulation purposes, considering that the expenses for purposes of regulating Halal accrediting bodies/entities are duly covered by the appropriation made by R.A. No. 9997; WHEREAS, finding the earnest request of the Halal accrediting bodies/entities to be meritorious, the Commission hereby grants the same; WHEREFORE, in view of the foregoing considerations, and upon motion of Commissioner Bai Omera D. Dianalan-Lucman, duly seconded and unanimously approved by the Commission through the majority of the commissioners hereunder present, the Commission: RESOLVES, as it is hereby RESOLVED, to amend the first paragraph of Section 13 on charges and fees criteria and guidelines in accrediting Halal certifying body/entity from: An amount of Thirty Thousand Pesos (P30,000.00) shall be charged against the body/entity whose application for accreditation shall have been approved to An amount of Ten
